They aren't necessarily sequels. There really is more than 3/4 stages as well with differing branches. Super Saiyan 2 is really just Super Saiyan 1, but a more complete ascended form (I think it was actually just called Ascended Saiyan, outlining the ascension to a complete stage). Super saiyan had differing forms of power, with ultra super saiyan an incomplete and broken branch of power.

Goku only started to number them in the Buu saga (Correct me if I'm wrong) with Super Saiyan 3. But even that stage is incomplete and inferior in terms of stability. It was said that what Gohan achieved in the Cell saga was the perfect and most stable stage of Super Saiyan. Super Saiyan 3 is too taxing and useless in the long run.

I'm pretty sure SSJ2 was called Super Saiyan Beyond Super Saiyan in the Cell saga, and it was an artifact of Gohan's rage. No one else was supposed to be able to achieve that

While it's a step below Z tier, it's still better than GT. I enjoy watching the anime, movies, and reading the manga still.

Super has introduced no less than 5 new hair colors, and GT's Super Saiyan 4 is still better looking than all of them.

DS2 and Elden Ring really leaned into the difficulty aspect, to the point of making it obnoxious sometimes.

But DS1 and DS3 are fine.

Super does seem like it's taking up a lot of ideas that have been around in the fandom for years.

We have:

* A white "Saiyan" form (even if it's not a Saiyan transformation)
* Frieza coming back (twice)
* Future Trunks coming back
* Female Super Saiyans, after GT dropped the ball severely with Pan
* Broly becoming canon
* "Gohan Blanco" becoming canon (same energy as WB and MultiVersus canonizing Ultra Instinct Shaggy)
* In the manga, Goku learning about Bardock

Don't forget "evil Goku", though that had been done somewhat (and much better) with Turles. Latest movie also brought back Cell, but again, in a "monkey's paw" kinda deal.

Peele's Twilight Zone has an episode about scientists finding a undiscovered species of octopus that was especially intelligent, and it essentially steals and reverses their research so instead of them splicing helpful octopus DNA into humans it splices helpful human DNA into octopuses.

They emphasized the Ogre Battle Saga Part VII in the trailer. Maybe that means they'll make the missing games.

Because the no privileged frame of reference thing, it means that if anyone anywhere can see effect precede cause, it's not an optical illusion, it's 100% real and thus a time paradox.
