Minecraft is probably the easiest to recommend. Especially with how flexible its difficulty is.

Honestly I'm kinda with the parents. Kamala very much has an unhealthy obsession with Captain Marvel and the Avengers. She's also so caught up in fantasy that she thinks she can jump out a window and grab a tree branch to get down. I think for this concept to work they need to show us that the parents have some valid concerns.

I hope the war list doesn't end up too 'samey'. It's important to pick a variety of countries, decades, and scenarios, or else you end up with a bunch of Americanized 'war hero overcomes the odds' and 'war is bad' in every single movie, which would get repetitive if you are marathonning them. I know you are aiming for all the most famous ones, but all the most famous will end up repetitive. There are still a ton of famous films that fit the category.

Yeah this is a big reason I included Stripes and Good Morning Vietnam in mine. Some comedies could lighten the mood a bit. I also really like Corrik's choices of Alexander, Kingdoms of Heaven and Troy. Since they focus on older wars and give us some unique settings.

Yeah I heavily considered Ran, but I also really want to watch Seven Samurai, so I let my bias take over even if Ran is probably a better fit.

Final Fantasy easily.

Kingdom Hearts got me interested in it, but I started with DoC (thinking it was FF7), followed by XIII, then the DS version of IV. I made varying degrees of progress in each, but it wasn't til I played VII that I actually got hooked and proceeded to binge IV-X.

So I just saw Watcher. It's a solid slowburn with Maika Monroe in the lead role. I definitely recommend it for anyone that liked her in It Follows

I'm pretty sure she just went off the deep end misunderstanding what was happening with her sort of boyfriend being raped unless I'm misremembering something.

The rest was just them not really being allowed to leave and forced to join in like everyone else.

It was a gradual descent. She got high and saw visions of her dead family, mixed in is the fear of being abandoned by the others, and then she finally sees Christian and its the final straw for her.

The murder-suicide is what made her emotionally vulnerable enough to join the cult.

This is further evidenced by the scene in the outhouse with the jumpscare. Again during the cliff scene she imagines her family on the rocks. Each event tears her down little by little.

Her sister reappears at the end too, but she's hard to spot both times, which leans into her 'moving past' the grief.
