- You kinda can't start at the beginning

- While Awakeing and Three Houses are great, playing them first can stop a lot of players from experiencing the prior games due to the change in difficulty.

- However starting before that is incredibly hard without an emulator, due to Nintendo's garbage VC practices.

But more importantly, this battle is over in less than a minute. Now I like a good 'spot the real one' fight and the design of Pinwheel is cool, and it's not like me to wish this game was more difficult, but I feel like they misplaced a decimal point when deciding this thing's HP >_> At first I am convinced that this is a fakeout fight or stage one of three, and that we will have to fight it again but harder to get the other two masks, but nope this appears to be it! Strange stuff. Well, we get the Rite of Kindling out of it. I have a harder time finding the ladder out of this room than I do with the actual fight!

I honestly love Pinwheel. He's a great break in the middle of what I consider to be the worst two areas in the game and he has a super fascinating backstory. Essentially he was experimenting with necromancy and accidentally combined himself, his wife and his child into the same body. Now he's desperately trying to find a way to fix them. You can also hear them whispering in his theme song, it's super eerie.

I'll give you a bit of a hint when it comes to finding the blacksmith. The entrance is not in the bonewheel pit, that way you don't have to waste your time dealing with those awful enemies.

You might also want to check out the book George Lucas: A Life. A good chunk of the book discusses how Lucas/Coppola/Spielberg navigated and reshaped 70s Hollywood, and while I imagine the landscape has changed immensely since then, it's worth learning how they survived the business. Highly recommend the audiobook if you have a free credit (usually any audiobook service will give you a free month/free credit for signing up).

Not exactly (although I have started Save the Cat on my own) the intro class is more focused on film analysis. After that we go into Production and from there they figure out which area we excel in the most and start taking classes that reflect that. So I imagine those would probably be saved for the Screenwriting classes

Alright I found this finally, could've done with this warping bonfire a while back! We meet a silent white spider and her talkative servant, no explicit info is given here but the bonfire location is named 'Daughter of Chaos' and it seems very likely she's another one of the witch's children. What her goal is I have no idea, has her servant invented a purpose for himself or is she actually trying to accomplish something, hm. And I'm not gonna splurge humanity on her if all it does is open up a shortcut I have no use for anymore!

So this one's super depressing. Daughter of Chaos is actually dying of a disease and feeding her humanity helps ease her pain. Which is why Quelaag guards the area, not only is she protecting her dying sister, but she's trying to retrieve humanity to help ease her pain.

Also regarding secret areas there's actually still additional ones in both Blightown and Anor Londo.

I actually run out of potions on this final try, and in a risky move I run across the arena to buy myself time to open the menu and equip humanity to give me a HP boost >_> It works though! Another lord down.

Congrats on beating Seath! Clutch wins like that are so rewarding! Any thoughts on where you're headed next?

As for the lore I think the main thing Seath is looking for is immortality that's not reliant on a very breakable crystal, but I'm admittedly not as knowledgeable on the archives as I am the rest of the game. Although there are a couple of cool things you might've missed. There's a side quest here, but I think it's missable if you didn't rescue him from Sen's Fortress first. He's basically a wizard with a comically large hat that goes insane. I think there's also a very hard to find crossbow that gives some lore on the potential architect of the Archives as well as Sen's, but I'm not 100% on that one.

So with Solaire, yeah there's nothing you can do at this point, but he does have an alternate route. So after Quelaag's boss arena you can find an NPC hidden behind a wall. If you give them 30 Humanity before reaching Lost Izalith, then a shortcut opens where you can kill the Sunlight Maggot. However this also leaves Solaire in a state of depression. This honestly what I love about the side quests in Souls games. They often tackle very heavy themes that get you thinking. Which do a great job at giving you more incentive than just the rewards.

As far as Bed of Chaos goes, yeah worst boss in the franchise. I love the lore though BoC is actually what the Witch of Izalith turned into when she unleashed the Chaos Flame. So she essentially became the mother of all the demons in Lost Izalith. I believe some of her daughters merged with her as well.

Damn, I was really hoping we'd get that Banjo upset there

Reread the description. It's not about the Centipede Demon, it's about Ceaseless Discharge. One of my favorite moments in this game is the horror I felt when I realized exactly why Ceaseless Discharge doesn't attack you until you take the armor neaby... A lot of people feel bad about killing Sif, but that made me feel like a monster as well.

IIRC if you actually use a free cam mod, you can see where Discharge falls and it's literally just the Centipede Demon room. Just another cool example of the attention to detail in these games.

Painted World is fantastic. Despite the franchise's overall reputation there's a surprising amount of locales that just seem relaxing and the path up the mountain is one of my favorite examples.

This is also the spot to go if you find yourself needing some extra Souls.

I saw some clips BB10, a season I haven't seen, and I gotta ask... what is the general opinion of this season? From what I saw it seemed like an entire cast of loud assholes just shouting at each other. I could see it either being really well loved as an entertaining trainwreck or really hated.

It's quite possibly my favorite season. It doesn't have a major twist and largely just relies on its cast. There's another big reason it's so good, but I don't want to mention it, in case you ever go to watch it.

Wow you handled the Archers really well! It took me forever to get past them.

I haven't figured out the secret to mimic chests yet, but I'm pretty good at killing them by now so no big deal.

Yeah the secret really isn't too useful, since it's faster and more fun to just hit every chest before opening it anyway

Absolutely. I think it's really just the snow that I hate. The last thing I want to do in the morning is scraping a ton of snow and ice off my car.

I love that first wow moment you get landing in Anor Londo.

My favorite interaction with messages was right before the Priscilla fight, I saw a ton of them just saying Feet and I just assumed it was everyone being horny, took me way too many attempts to realize they were actually talking about her footprints

Yeah that Bonfire is brutal. I'm always nervous about dropping to it, go to slow and you get bombed, go to fast and risk falling off the edge.

Also huge fan of the mimics, they're intimidating enough in regular fantasy games, leave it to FromSoft to make them even more terrifying.

Honestly with Zelda it's the combat that ruins it for me. You take way too much knockback and the invincibility frames don't last long enough, resulting in you getting pinballed to death.

Then you get to start back at the beginning and have to grind your hearts back up

I've always found medium rolling is best for newcomers. It's a good way to learn the mechanics while giving yourself enough defenses to tank a couple of hits, especially from mobs.

Fast rolling becomes a lot more useful once you know boss patterns and have a better understanding of what to expect from Souls games.

Glad you're enjoying the exploration, it's honestly what makes this particular entry one of my favorites. Finding new areas and shortcuts is just so rewarding. It's honestly really good that you're avoiding spoilers for that very reason too.

Random q, no need to answer if it's spoily: what is the deal with the white mist? I thought it indicated a boss gate but half the time it just... doesn't. Is this some weird disguised loading screen or is there actually a reason for it?

For the most part it is a boss gate, but I think the ones in the levels are used as barriers for PVP.
