well, the reason Trump is saying that we have the highest taxes is because it supports the rhetoric that we are being taxed to death

if, instead, he said that we had fairly moderate to low taxes compared to other developed countries, this would not support that rhetoric

so I guess it only matters insofar as you think other countries matter but of course we only care about context if it supports the ideas we already hold

I mean not only is this moving the goal post, it's stupid, there are tens of thousands of Mormons in MS. No, that's not a huge population, but who said that it was? religious discrimination laws are designed to protect minority religious communities in the first place.

eh I mean

why would you assume an egomaniac doesn't want to do something good for his country? equally, a martyr might not care about his country outside of a narrow ideological range of things. which one a politician is is really kinda irrelevant to the question of whether or not they want to do good stuff, you still need to have something wrong with you one way or another to put yourself through those paces and actually be successful

Think logically about what being a politician means for the most part:

- significantly less pay compared to equally skilled private sector work
- public ridicule and little private life. Nothing is considered sacred or personal, not even your salary or tax claims or family life
- constant pressure to be working always. Take a break to play some golf? "That's our tax money at work"

So why would anyone be a politician under those circumstances unless they were either an egomaniac or a martyr?

Since no one seems to know how to look up the text of a law in this topic and read it for themselves, here's the relevant section of text for the above posts.
The state government shall not take any discriminatory action against a person wholly or partially on the basis that the person declines to participate in the provision of treatments, counseling, or surgeries related to sex reassignment or gender identity transitioning or declines to participate in the provision of psychological, counseling, or fertility services based upon a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction described in Section 2 of this act. This subsection (4) shall not be construed to allow any person to deny visitation, recognition of a designated representative for health care decision-making, or emergency medical treatment necessary to cure an illness or injury as required by law.

General (i.e. not related to gender transitioning matters) medical providers can't turn away anyone under this law. The GLAAD spokesperson is simply either mistaken, lying, or never actually read the bill and made shit up.

I'm not a doctor or a lawyer or a business executive, but to me the additional clause here implies that it isn't just for gender reassignment surgery. The first clause already mentions the provision of "treament [or] counseling services" for "sex reassignment or gender identity transitioning" which would make the second clause mostly redundant.

honestly it makes sense

not to get all pop-political psychology or anything, but wage stagnation + women becoming relatively more successful at school + the loss of 'manly' manufacturing-style jobs + the rise of 'pink collar' middle class work has really thrown what darkman referred to as 'low status' men for a loop

I don't think it's purely because of a fear that it will happen to them, though. At least as much of it is about proving that high status men aren't really better than they are despite surface appearances. Sure he makes more money and he's married but he's just a cuck.

While its a bad excuse typically, most people are fat, in part, because of their genetics/gut flora/non-lifestyle factors so it takes more strict dieting/exercise to get down to a manageable weight. Its the difference between a kid being financially successful out of a low income family vs. a kid from an upper-middle class one. Its easy for the person who just has to avoid the occasional donut to stay relatively lean to tell the person who needs to follow a pretty strict diet to not gain weight to lose it via a simple change or to.

Bullshit, variance in BMR has a standard deviation of +/- 150 calories, i.e. people's metabolisms are incredibly uniform barring actual, unique health cases.

People are fucking lazy and/or don't care, plain and simple, and it has a massive fucking impact on healthcare, climate change, and global warming. People need to lose the fucking weight already.

I think you are both wrong.

Lifestyle factors are the most relevant issue
