I started Black Eagles. So far I like how Hubert is trying to do his best impression of April from Parks & Rec. And also Bernadetta always thinking everyone is trying to kill her, but waiting to see what kind of fucked up backstory got her to that point.

Ferdinand seems boring, thought he was gonna be more similar to Sylvain. Caspar is the Ashe/Ignatz i.e. character I don't care about of this house. Dorothea is literally just mini Manuela so far. Linhardt and Petra seem like they'll be cool.

Well, just finished Blue Lions. Wtf at Edelgard in the last mission, that was kinda out of nowhere. I ended up marrying Dedue, I liked him best out of the options for female Byleth. He has such a pleasant voice.

I'm glad I played Golden Deer first, I feel like Blue Lion kinda glossed over some plot points that I'd feel unsatisfied about, like what happened to Rhea and the shadow organization. It will probably be some time before I play Black Eagles, since I already did the first two basically back to back.

Also I really like the battle music in this game.

Almost done with Blue Lions I think. The interactions between the Kingdom and the Alliance makes so much more sense in this than it did in Golden Deer path. That annoyed me in GD tbh. But I guess in GD, Byleth wasnt with Dimitri to help him get back on track.

The Blue Lion students arent as fun or charming as Golden Deers were. They dont seem like they get along with each other much either, lots of B max support levels. So far I like Mercedes for the relentless optimism, and Dedue for the overcoming prejudice storyline.

Sylvain has really bad Movement at this point and he always starts in a really bad spot on the map so hes underleveled so far. Im hoping Ingrid will be my Leonie equivalent in battle. And yeah, Demitri is destroying everything and since he excels at Riding he got to a Cavalry class earlier and moves so much faster and slaughters everything before the others can get there.

I just switched myself.

The biggest reason for me was Apple CarPlay. My car (2019 Camry; I believe Android compatibility wasnt added until the 2020 model) is compatible with Apple CarPlay which makes using the onscreen navigation much more seamless. With the Android, I had to download and use TWO of Toyotas proprietary apps just to use the onscreen map, it was really annoying. With the iPhone, I only need to plug it in.

Yeah I actually did make him a Dark Knight but he was weak enough where putting him out there would make all the enemy units target him, and it'd only take one to OHKO him so I was never aggressive using him and he fell behind in levels.

Tbh I found Byleth to be fairly ineffective in combat compared to most of the students of Golden Deer. The only ones that might have been worse were Ignatz, who was too weak without a Brave weapon, and Lorenz who had a glass jaw.

I definitely plan on playing the other paths but it might be a while until I do, got a lot of other things in the Black Friday backlog, and the 90 hour campaign was a little draining.

I did at least start the New Game + and played up through far enough to choose Blue Lions and use Renown to jump up to Professor Level A+. I will probably just do that run on Normal, Golden Deer on Hard wasn't bad but I wanna breeze through it with the campaign being so long.

Just finished the Golden Deer path, first playthrough. Took me about 90 hours, sheesh. The last mission was way harder than the rest of the game. Ended up marrying Hilda. Should have picked Alois to see what the male-male ending was like.

Best fighter was Leonie, who I had totally written off at the start but turned into a freakin' monster by the end.
