AuthenticZac 07/06/20 7:59:30 PM #4 | NES4EVER posted... Too many Honestly, I'd suggest at least giving Black Flag a chance, as it is considerably different to the other games. The first game was more or less a proof of concept, with far too many repetitive missions (and bells!) Two is where the game started to find it's stride, then proceeded to flesh out the character in Brotherhood and Revelations, experimenting with different gameplay mechanics (hello/goodbye horses) Three... Well, it was an interesting concept with some nice twists, but was also a buggy mess on release. Four/Black Flag is where, for many people, the series peaked Rogue was essentially more of Black Flag (personally, I liked it more, primarily because certain mission types were gone) --- |

Haven't played X-com 2 yet, but I feel like Dishonored 2 is still your best bet (was my favorite game last year) It's what I feel like every stealth game should strive to achieve. Even ignoring the story, which was really well done, there are multiple different paths to your goals, multiple different methods to achieve said goals, and extremely fun abilities to do so with (with many optional upgrades available to each). Leanaunfurled posted... I've been intrigued by Supraland. I've heard it's an odd and really good mix of a metroidvania, Zelda, and Portal. o.o It's definitely worth your time if you choose to try it out. The screenshots on the store page do not do it justice at all. My suggestion, if you are at all on the fence about it, is to try the demo. It is surprisingly long and the save does carry over into the main game if you do decide to grab it. --- |

AuthenticZac 07/06/20 1:05:38 PM #196 | Goat_Hero posted... Lets finish this topic before the end of the day! I mentioned it earlier, but definitely Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Was an awesome experience that somehow managed to surpass the previous game. I'm so glad I went into it as blind as I did (wasn't even aware of the changes made to the gameplay) Previously to itrumpmypillow's generous gift, it was Supraland though - Amazing 3d metroidvania. The story is pretty bland (and really non-existent for the most part), but the gameplay and puzzles far more than make up for it. Despite appearances, it's actually fairly long too - put 25+ hours into it. --- |

AuthenticZac 07/05/20 2:17:15 PM #124 | SystemEgo posted... Steam has xp levels? How do I find mine? Only been on Steam since lockdown started and haven't really bothered with the aesthitics much outside of a name change and profile pic. Is there a dummies guide to the benefits of levelling up anywhere? On your profile, top right it will tell you your level. Click it to be taken to your badge page where it will also list the XP required 'till next level. Crafting badges from a full set of trading card for that game will net you 100xp, and can be repeated 5 times per game. Each game has different numbers of cards, but you can get the cards from simply playing the game/having it open (max cards earned this way are 1/2 of the total set). Alternatively, you can buy the cards off the steam marketplace. There are also events, like these sales where Steam will give out badges (with varying XP) for various tasks - some related to crafting an event-badge, others for taking part in "games" (like races or ARGs from previous events) As you craft badges, you also earn other stuff like emoticons and backgrounds, which you can either keep or sell on the marketplace. Most, though, only go for a few cents. Still, a good way to get one for yourself without having to try your luck crafting a badge for anything specific. And yes, this is how you can get backgrounds and whatnot for games that you don't even own. --- |

AuthenticZac 07/04/20 6:36:11 PM #14 | richisdisturbed posted... Repostttt! People post their wishlists, and other users can gift them stuff. If it is a direct gift via the Steam store, it counts as a regular entry for the sake of the end-of-contest giveaway. If it is a bundle key, however, it counts as 1/5th. At the end, the person doing the giveaway (1-15 were ArchangelBaruch, this time it is Alakazamtrainer) will use an RNG thingy to pick 10 numbers from the spreadsheet, awarding them with $10 to spend on whatever (drawing 2 days before Summer sale ends) In regards to the bundle keys, what people typically do is post a list of the games they have keys for, and let people call which ones they are interested in, then PM them (prevents them from all being snagged) --- |

AuthenticZac 06/29/20 4:55:29 PM #95 | From your message in the last topic, @Leanaunfurled Does anyone here have experience with Thronebreaker? Despite all the W3 love, Thronebreaker seems like it flew under the radar and I don't hear much about it. Just put in about 5 hours into the game, completing the first chapter (act?), and here's my first impressions: Good story, but I don't know if I'd call it great. As I said before though, my knowledge of the Witcher series is limited, so I'm sure that plays a part in my experience (I believe it takes place before the series too, so for those familiar with the lore, it'd serve to explain certain events) The game itself has you walking around large maps, looting trees and such for resources that you will then use to either craft new cards (which is extremely limited in the first act), or on the various sidequests. Sidequests, some of which, has some rather large consequences. I won't go in to specifics, but with one choice alone, I ended up bricked off from a certain area, as well as potentially powerful cards. Was almost tempted to restart, but figure I'd accept the choice (even if it wasn't 100% what I intended). Then there is Gwent, which is supposed to be the focal point of the game, almost takes a backseat to the story. More often than naught, you'll find yourself doing Gwent-puzzles more than actual games of gwent. Again, it might change in future chapters, but Act-1 was a bit sparse. Also, as a bonus, by owning Thronebreaker you get some loot-crates/avatars/cosmetics/other stuff in the stand-alone version of Gwent, which, depending on how much you play, might make it an even better value. --- |

Genuinely not sure what you mean by a bundle key mind you, though I doubt that actually matters for me. Ah, bundle keys are keys people typically get from... well, bundles. Sites like Humble Bundle, Indiegala, Fanatical, etc.. will occasionally sell bundles of games (On average ranging from 5-10+ games) for cheap (usually $1-$5, with exceptions for higher-tier games). A lot of people will buy the bundles for specific games (ends up being cheaper than buying the game individually), leaving them with the leftovers to give out to friends. --- |
