It just isn't a magic solution that will fix all problems and there are usually just less cops per person out in the suburbs so the police are still whiter than the people that are being policed.

Honestly..... New York has one of the highest ratios of cops per person in the country and by extension on the planet. There are systemic problems in terms of motivation and/or in terms of effectiveness if they can't police main street and shops like Macy's are getting looted.

You are still treating "the police" as some kind of monolith when it is a collection of thousands of agencies across the country and the world for that matter. How does molotoving the police station in mayberry make any more sense that doing it to a random station in Finland?

As I said before this is a profession that exists the world over not just a gang of people that have a hive mind in the US. There are bad cops. There are bad departments. But the solution isn't to run amok across the US breaking random windows or burning down random government buildings because the cops in Minneapolis did something terrible.

I have no idea. I'm a software engineer in Colorado and I know I pay a ton of taxes. I also know that if the local police station gets burned down that is taking money from the post office, the local schools, the library, the roads, etc.. How does destruction of government property make any sense? How does the destruction of any property make sense? A guy was murdered by cops in Minneapolis so you are going to break windows at a shop a thousand miles away? Are you insane?

"The police" isn't a particular gang of people in America its a profession that exists in every society on earth. If you torch the police station then we will need to build another.

You are literally paying for government property if you pay taxes. You are talking about robbing yourself. If you don't pay taxes realize that those of us that do could build a wall around those of you that don't and let you starve because we are smarter than you, more numerous than you, and far better armed.

You've been at risk of dying of atomic bombs obliterating your home whether you realized it or not since the day you were born.

I've had that issue resolved by replacing the battery and had it resolved by fixing an issue with the parts that connect to the battery.

By and large the most common path I see out of the Army is people ETSing or med boarding.

Medboarding is what I meant. They get on profile they ride it as long as it will go and then they hurt themselves trying to do PT with the rest of the unit because they haven't done PT for the duration of their string of profiles. They they medboard out with achy breaky legs and sleep apnea from their fatyness.

Most people after basic just eat their way out of the Army and get a disability pension for life. Thats about half the people you see rolling around with disabled veteran plates.

I was more thinking of basic.

We had people that threatened to kill themselves and they would take their shoelaces away (ducktape around the boots), put them on suicide watch 24/7 with another trainee as a guard (which meant less sleep for everyone which led to resentment), and had their rifles taken away from them for the duration of training. The general message was that the easiest way to get out of basic was to succeed rather than quit.

Thats my point. We had kids in basic that decided to quit and they were fucked with relentlessly. I'm sure they got out eventually but they were the saddest kids in the world for a month or so.

They typically won't force you to stay. I wrote the letter requesting and sent it up the chain of command and they agreed.

That isn't how the US military works.

I liked Origins the best but 2 and Inquisition are still good games. A lot of the people that hate them really haven't liked any RPGs made int he last 10 years. They are stuck in the past.

3. There was probably some assumption from some people that the cop knew what he was doing and was just 'subduing' the guy rather than slowly murdering him.

This wasn't Rodney King. If I glanced at this situation happening I would think "ok" without having the knowledge that this guy was on the guys neck for 5+ minutes until he stopped breathing. Its like if you saw someone put a guy in some kind of MMA choke vs. if that guy just held the choke until the person was a corpse.

Veteran rates are similar to the same demographic of non veterans. Suicide has been an increasing problem for men in general in america.

I'm saying this as a veteran. This image of suicides happening all the time because of ptsd from combat doesnt at all fit with the data.

Deploying or seeing combat doesnt actually mean an increased rate of suicide compared to veterans that never left the states. We need to ask why young men are killing themselves in 2020 to answer why veterans are doing it.

Army people in general do not necessarily have a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and backrounds in assault rifle design. I've had a combat arms guy swear to god the whole "a 50 cal round can kill you just by zipping close by you from the shockwave". Then he pulled the whole "I've seen it with my own eyes!" card out of his butt.

People are dumb and Army people are people.

We flattened the curve enough that our medical system, even in nyc, didn't collapse.
