Think about this whole debate though. It's people that have been on food stamps for so long that they are confused and scared when they dont even if the reason is that they are getting too much other money from the government to get them.

It's always seemed strange to me that there is this whole other part of society where people are stuck on some kind of welfare benefit or a combination of welfare benefits for their entire lives.

I was a Comp Sci major (BS) at CU boulder and honestly most "engineers" around here are working as computer programmers and the ones that majored in a more traditional Engineer majors are basically stuck as software engineers anyways but they start from 0 rather than having a few years of classwork doing programming projects to stand on. You can pat yourselves on the back for having learned all about (insert random engineer bullshit you don't do now) but you have way less experience in software.

Its an 8/ Some memorable stuff but it isn't the kind of stuff that rends your heart.

You should apply for disability if you are disabled. The programs in place would get your tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in handouts over the course of your life.

It is really fucking stupid to think that the US could have kept out the coronavirus given what we know about how it spreads at this point. There isn't a counter argument. The US has plenty of areas that are ripe for it spreading in terms of climate and population density and a ton of international airports and international travelers and it can be spread by people that show no symptoms. It was going to spread in the US and it was going to be worst in places like NYC. That is a fact.

NYC has far more people testing positive because New York State is testing much more people than any other state. This isn't a NYC problem, this is a country wide problem.

NYC is also the most crowded city in the US with the best public transportation in the US.

I went to Sam's Club using my "plus " membership for the very first time once I saw the stores were out at any time but opening in this thing and I got a pack for my family (fiance and I, our parents, my aunt and uncle) and one for the office in case my work bros were out of TP. Felt a bit shitty about walking out with 64 rolls of TP but we are all covered.

The bigger question mark is for people that made between 75 and 100 in 2018. I made like 84 and only claimed the standard deduction so I have no idea where that leaves me.

The interest rate is on the amount owed. If you owe 100,000 with a 5% rate that is 5000 a year. If you pay it down to 50,000 then the interest portion is $2500.

If you pay more than the part that goes to interest it goes to the principle and it lowers the loan amount.

I get that but the data suggests that this thing is about twice as likely to spread and at least 10 times deadlier to people with compromised immune systems as the cold/flu.

Its a very real threat to people with compromised immune systems. I'm scared for my mother (cancer survivor that went through chemo and radiation twice) and some of my coworkers that are older and have health conditions.

I'm not scared for myself but obviously if I feel sick I'm going to do the safe thing and isolate myself till I fight it off.

Its a lot more complicated than that. Endorsing state atheism didn't magically make the Soviets or Chinese more scientifically advanced that the US during the Cold War.

Really depends on what you do for a living. Currently I'm a software engineer and if I didn't work out I'd be a blob but I've had jobs in the past that basically felt like a workout.

Just curious but is this an urban, suburban or rural school? I remember fifth grade in a suburban public school being totally chill. The only time we had any trouble was when the kid with down syndrome had issues and then they would just call down to the special ed area and they would send somebody to take him away to calm him down.

It is objectively true that the panic over the "pandemic" is silly at this point.

Climate change happens but it isn't the only reason there are droughts or fires in Australia of all places. An increased likelyhood of certain events occurring means that every fire, hurricane, etc for the rest of our lives we are going to shriek about it happening because of the bad people?

This is an absurd argument given the size of Australia, how sparsely populated it is, and the climate that Australia has always had. If you quadrupled the number of firefighters and tripled their pay the fires would still happen. What is happening in Australia is basically the public turning on their leader because of bad weather and climate scientists holding their nose and joining the bandwagon even though they know it is ridiculous they realize that it is easier to get people to take action on climate change if you pretend like "the weather has been bad therefore the leader has lost the mandate of heaven" type shit works while actually explaining that 90% of events like this would happen in Australia climate change or not and 99.99% of these events would happen no matter who was elected Prime Minister.

The way Australian are reacting it seems like they actually believe that the climate gods will spare them the effects of fire and drought if they make offerings and embrace green energy. Its ridiculous.

From an outside perspective the Australia thing seems to amount to aussies wanting to blame a human being for the weather.

I get the climate change aspect but all of this would be happening in Australia regardless of who won the last 20 elections.
