Yes sir, that's literally all there is to it! Nevermind where all that meltwater goes. It either flows into the sea or evaporates into the sky and just magically disappears.

If you were already going to have 0 kids, that means you have to take a kid out of the world in order to reach -1

Not sure if serious, but in case you are, that is not how it works.

Remember that people die all the time (whether by natural causes or otherwise, everyone dies eventually). However the birthrate globally outpaces the deathrate, to the point where the amount of people become unsustainable for the environment (at least, with the current way of of how people consume products and use energy).

For example, if 3 babies are born every second, and 2 people die every second, then the net birthrate is 1.
If significantly more people were to have no children at all, that pace could be slowed down, perhaps someday even stabilized.
It would take either an unrealistic amount of people or a global sterilization virus to actually bring the global net birthrate down to -1.

However, it is currently within reach of several countries to have a net birthrate of -1 on a national scale, with the help of education, birth control and empowerment through emancipation (like helping people realize that it's perfectly fine to choose to not have kids).

The resources and social environment to realize this requires a country to be wealthy (so they can for example provide education and healthcare for everyone and that people don't necessarily require children to take care of them at old age).
The same applies to other factors that affect the environment, like fossil fuels (like wealthy countries can afford to develop and invest in environment-friendly energy sources more than others).

This is one of the primary reasons why it's up to first-world and/or developed countries to make the first move, and in turn help other countries do the same.

Where do "stop destroying the Amazon" and "stop burning fossil fuels" fit on this list?

The list seems to focus on things an individual can do. Individuals (at least, many of them together) could probably help preserve the Amazon and other endangered nature by only buying local products (as opposed to imported stuff).
Also, if enough people do this, it also requires less airplanes and ships to transport products from far away.

But fuck it, might as well try and see if I can last the whole month. Especially since I had a horny dream three nights ago, but haven't felt horny at all since.

I've successfully completed NNN twice in the past, so I know for a fact that it's doable. For those having trouble suppressing the urges and not sure if they can keep it up: it gets much easier after like two weeks.

I get the feeling Bezos is in it just for the profit, especially since zero progress is made with his space launches aside from a few rich and/or lucky tourists going through LEO for a bit just for the lulz.

That's the case with lots of extinction-level events. It's one thing or a few things that sets other things in motion. Like a large meteorite or supervolcano eruption itself won't kill all/most of humanity. The consequences of such an event, like climate change, tidal waves and nuclear winter are some that can kill off many more, even more than the event itself, depending on the magnitude of the catalyst event.

But maybe that's just me. Maybe to some people playing video games, jerking off (maybe even getting laid every once in a while) and getting wasted really is enough for them to get happiness and satisfaction in life.

Definitely top tier.

I hope something constructive comes out of COP26 in Glasgow, though it's disappointing that (once again), the pledges countries make aren't binding. Judging from the years that have passed since COP21 in Paris in 2015, I expect governments will make some efforts, but nowhere near enough (except perhaps the ones that have a relatively stable left-wing/progressive government).

Meanwhile I do what I realistically can by not driving, not flying, not having kids, limiting meat and other animal products I consume, investing solely in environment-friendly stocks and bonds and using power at home sparingly (which incidentally saves quite a bit of money as well).

A lot of people who argue that large companies are the ones who should fix it should realize that:

1. Compared to say 10 years ago there are many more companies that knowingly take action to transitiom to working in an environmentally responsible manner. Some because their leadership knowingly sticks to that principle, many because they're forced to do so by social and political pressure.

2. Companies make products that are in demand among consumers. If lots of consumers spend mostly their money on stuff that isn't environment-friendly, companies will keep producing that kind of stuff and keep investing in fossil fuels. This is where consumers can make the difference.

Watchmen spoilers
Ozymandias completely earned his victory. Firstly by knowingly activating his weapon before the good guys had a chance to stop him (unlike 99.9% of all antagonists). Secondly because he actually did achieve his 'noble' goal of bringing about world peace by uniting humanity against a 'common foe'.

Although the method was extreme, I think sadly humanity really does need a common foe or at least some sort tangible face of adversity, something we can name, blame and unite against.
It really has to be someone or something specific and uncomplicated to explain, like with Nazi Germany, something that can threaten all or most of humanity if left unchecked.
However something like climate change and environmental disasters are apparently not good enough for humanity to stand against as a united front.

Pretty much, as I've mostly been replaying old games over and over again.

These last few months however I'm completely hooked on Subnautica, in a way I haven't been on any game for many years.
Whenever I'm home, I want to play it. Whenever I'm not home or otherwise unable to play it, I'm often thinking about playing it, and coming up with strategies on how and why to play a certain way.

Recently a friend of mine got it as well, in part because I recommended it to him (he's a nostalgic gamer who loved Sub Culture as a kid). I really have to contain myself from spoiling things to him, and try to stick to vague hints when he's stuck, but I'm already very glad to have someone irl with whom I can talk about it (especially since the Subnautica boards on here are pretty dead).

I just can't get enough of it and I hope Unknown Worlds makes more of it.

A RPG made by Sierra in 1997, after Betrayal at Krondor turned out to be a success, but they had sold that franchise by then, so instead of making a sequel they made this.

It's the graphics that scared everyone away, but literally everything else about the game is perfect: gameplay, story, world-building, music, and tons of additional areas and side-quests to explore.

A few years ago it was finally re-released on Steam and GOG, in part thanks to the fame of Betrayal at Krondor.
