You could also argue it gets rid of the incentive to pursue more strenuous/productive jobs if you can live just as comfortably with low skill jobs. Which then poses another threat. Over qualified people taking low skill jobs from those who need it most.

You forgot the part where low skill people would not be living comfortably since all their hours and jobs would be cut, and the odds of them finding an open full time position would be a snowball's chance in hell.

I'm sure they could have done it if they really wanted to. Instead it just looks bland. They're just making the same movie we've seen 100 times as kids except with realistic animals, except they're not realistic, they just look like CG.

While millions of families count on Latinas and Black women to deliver financially, they face a steeper climb to provide that financial security. In 2017, Black women were paid 61 cents for every dollar white men made. Native women made 58 cents to a white mans dollar and Latinas earned just 53 cents to a white mans dollar*. And its getting worse: the gap in weekly earnings between white and Black women is higher today than it was forty years ago.

Can we also blame colleges for offering useless degrees?
Of course!

If your degree isn't in something practical, the Government and many institutions should not offer tuition / loans towards them.

We don't need more professional Philosophers.

That's not a reason not to offer "useless" programs. I've said it before and I'll say it again, college is not job camp. Your career is not the responsibility of the universities, only your education.

Do you think it is in the best interest of the university to offer degrees in fields with bad job prospects? Especially when loans need to be repaid. Employment upon graduation is a thing that reflects on the university.

As long as the departments keep their classrooms filled, that's all that matters as far as the university is concerned. Their function is to teach, not to recruit. Back before student loans were a thing, people went to college just for the enrichment of it all, and some still do today. Job prospects should never be the point of a degree, that expectation should always be up to the student.

There are tons of cost effective options out there for schools and programs. They are not being utilized. As such, a huge % of these massive debts are purely elective.

Therefore, i have little sympathy for anyone who didn't even bother to do a very obvious, simple calculation before proceeding:

(amount of expected annual income in entry level position after graduating) / (amount of annual payments made toward student loans)

Bam. It's that easy. There is all kinds of data and info out there and has been for decades. If you don't follow it, you have nobody to blame but yourself. It's your problem. You chose to do that to yourself.

People don't often learn about finance so that they'd know to do that, though. Most kids just get told by their parents what they need to do (go to college, get student aid, etc.) without any financial education at all.

If there is one single great disservice and wrongdoing we are committing against the children of this country, it's teaching them to borrow before teaching them to invest. It should be the other way around, as the loan is part of the investment.

NY Population: 19.54 million (2018)
CA Population: 39.56 million (2018)
NY + CA Population = 59.1 million
US Population: 327.2 million (2018)

NY & CA is only around 18% of the total US population, so it's literally mathematically impossible for only the people in those two states to ever control the election in a popular vote.

Don't hurt yourself with all that backpedaling. Let me break it down for you.

Blaming the lenders is just creating a scapegoat. As long as education costs this much, you'll have to take loans.

All of this started BECAUSE we started taking loans. If we stopped or severely restricted loans, colleges would have no choice but to lower tuitions and downsize their excessive administrative staff and other costs. There would still be options available to help lower income students like the Pell grant, but otherwise paying out of pocket is the way it should be.

Nope. Scapegoating.

If a college says "gee, people can take as much loans as they need, so let's exploit it," the lenders aren't to blame. It's the college for exploiting it.

That's not exploitation, that's business. By lending money to anyone and everyone, that greatly balloons the higher education market, and colleges only have so many open spots. It's simple supply and demand.

If anything they should at least get rid of the all-or-nothing distribution of electoral votes. Its bull shit someone can win a state by a thousand votes and still get all of that states electoral votes.

People who say this are plebs who only vote for the president and no one else, which illustrates perfectly why states need protection from them.

I've actually got a landlord who tried to pull a "non-refundable" deposit on me, which I'm pretty sure there's no such thing. All security deposits under federal and state law are refundable by nature as far as I know. Landlords are also supposed to hold the deposit in a separate trust account and provide you with the name of that institution, and depending on the state they are required to refund any interest that the deposit has accrued as well.
