A catcalling, toxic masculinity, pursuer of women who clearly aren't interested couldn't be played for comedy today. Not for a children's show at least. Cow and Chicken - couldn't be done. Everything to do with The Red Guy would be axed. His nudity, calling himself "the king - and queen! - of....", plus all the gay-coded stereotypes. Powerpuff Girls - sort of. Certain aspects couldn't be done. Ms. Bellum, HIM, all the violence. We saw what happened to the 2016 reboot, it was severely neutered. Ed Edd n Eddy - hoo boy. Can't do Rolf (let's laugh at the weird foreign brown kid), couldn't do Jimmy (hah this boy acts like a girl), couldn't do the Kankers (The Eds DO NOT consent), probably couldn't do Ed (are we supposed to laugh at somebody who is clearly challenged?) Courage the Cowardly Dog - probably safe, even with its freaky imagery Codename Kids Next Door - probably safe, it was even ahead of its time with a diverse cast I guess anything after 2003 could be considered safe (also I stopped paying attention to CN shows around that time so I dunno) --- https://imgur.com/h74Kc6W |
