Also its very interesting how radically different the Free Enterprise randomizer makes the game. You take the rails off the game and all of a sudden you have a massive world to explore and unlock

I have never even played the game. Dont have any interest in platform fighters atm. I have friends who were into competitive smash that also play this game so Ive casually been following the updates on this game as time goes on.

Ive always wanted to try out an RPG Roguelike. I think this game plays very well, and even between runs where you may end up using different characters, the combat still feels fresh. My major gripes are some bugs that the game still has, the lack of tanks to bolster your frontlines (more backliners than frontliners, when ideally you want less of those in your party), and the run length - if you party wipe once, you lose the whole run. This is exacerbated due to the last area featuring what amounts to an escort mission.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens
The only non-roguelike on this list.

Half Genie Hero turned me off of the series for a while. I picked this up on the Black Friday sale and man was I missing a lot by not playing this game sooner. I think it takes the redeeming qualities of HGH, the interconnected maps of the first two games, and the metroidvanianess of Pirates Curse and mashes them up into the best package the series has to offer (they even massively cut back on the weird callbacks that never made sense to me - even in the first game they read like awkward callbacks that youre just supposed to nod your head with in agreement).

Loop Hero
Im not usually one for deck builders or autobattlers, but the the combination of the two, along with the fact that you build the dungeon your character continually loops through is very interesting and addicting. Ive put it down for now but if I feel inspired to, Ill go back and learn how to optimize my layouts better.

Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon
This just came out yesterday so I dont have a full opinion yet. First impression though: I am not really into puzzle games but this one is pretty fun. However, you cant play it with your brain turned off at all and it moves pretty fast. Theres a lot of information to take in because every enemy has different properties you need to take into account. You also need to keep in mind that staying near the top and attacking chains are the main way to make sure your run has longevity (I cleared the game once last night). I unlocked a few other knights to play as, too.

11 was great. Hearing that 12 might just ditch the classic turn based combat is a massive head scratcher considering people buy DQ because it doesnt change. You want to do some experimental JRPG shit? Just do it with FF like you always have.

Yeah I used to say Pirates Curse was by far the best of the Shantae games. Seven Sirens is even better than it though (however it still has some negatives that they carry over between the games, like an excessive gauntlet near the end of the game - the combat in these games does not even remotely justify the dumb gauntlets they put in these games)

I think the game may have been dubbed this way because it was originally supposed to be released just in Europe in Japan, because old Nintendo liked to make even worse decisions than current-day Nintendo.

I really do like the voice cast though. Its the best kind of campy.

The series isnt weird. 1 is one of the more unique JRPGs Ive played and then with 2 they decided to appeal to the lowest common denominator like many other modern JRPGs. I just dont get it

Ive played all of the classic Sonic games. Its not a bad game but its easily the worst of the bunch (CD and Chaotix come close though).
