I REALLY don't think that's Love Live's doing. It just happened to come around that time.

Just look at Fire Emblem Awakening. It was released 1 year before the Love Live anime aired in Japan, and the waifu-ism contributed to a huge part of the game's popularity.

It's really just the otaku market going in that direction.

Honestly, Love Live was coattailing K-ON! and the Moe Boom.

They need to get on with designating ALL loot boxes and gacha systems as "online gambling" and be done with the bullshit. No, Overwatch may do it right but it gets no pass. All loot boxes. All gachas. Desginate them as "Online Gambling". Which, if you don't know, hurts them because they lose huge chunks of available base [due to requiring 18+], and they get tied up in red tape.
Would that murder two huge things in gaming? Yes.

Switch is a dedicated Gaming platform: I.E. a Console.
It has tablet properties, because it's also a Handheld, but it's a console that's like a Tablet, not a Tablet like a console.

PC is as strong as ever.

Mobile revenue is from Gambling- gachas and their ilk. That's like saying trying to analyze say, tabletop gaming but including poker and blackjack.

I've never found politics to be a problem in Commander. It's fun to wheel and deal and try to survive. Then again, I don't play super-competitive decks. I'm sure people have had salt in dealing with me, but every person I play with tends to say they hope to play again; I'm a goofy person at the table and make lots of jokes during the game. But I definitely play for the political aspect of Commander.

Which honestly, is why I'd say Grand is the better of the FFA formats.
Spheres [either round table, or left/right], you might as well play a tournament or round robin, except winners don't recover LP.

In grand, there's way more strategy.

Commander doesn't dictate that.
Commander/EDH can be 2-player.
Standard can be Grand Multiplayer.

Multiplayer is not quite for everyone.

And then there's a few types of Mutliplayer on top of that...
With Grand Multiplayer being the one that's going to be the most "political" because playing it is entirely about using words and mindgames to create favorable situations.

You're assuming players are strictly logical. They aren't, especially when the game has no stakes.

You'd have to be exceptionally aggressive to be really ticking people off with stuff like "Hey, attack him over there because X" in a Grand Multiplayer format.

Or are that guy who has a huge ace in the deck and everyone around you knows it.
