Depends on what they're investing in. If they're investing in something that produces value then I'm not criticizing them. If they're buying glorified lottery tickets then I laugh at them just the same.

Also, there's a surgery you can do to add one or two inches to your height. Apparently people travel to India to get it done since it's not approved over here.

Wow, a whole single life a year!! Meanwhile it says there's also an increase in "quality of life" arrests. How many lives do the police ruin in a year with over-policing? Are killings by the police counted as part of this homicide count?

Alright, so I threw together a quick and dirty structured text adventure. Each room is its own function and the game runs in a loop with a win or loss condition. This allows you to jump back and forth between rooms and adding a room is simply a matter of writing another function and having one of the existing rooms simply "link" to that room by setting the state.

Here is the link: https://ideone.com/xFIwVn (You can see the execution here with sample input under stdin)

and here's the pastebin if you prefer that: https://pastebin.com/SAmvm6Fr

This is about the point where you'll want to organize your code into functions and classes. Rooms should take a more structured form instead of being handled in one giant linear program.

Questionmarktarius posted...
while/else?

Python has a quirky else construct for while where it'll execute the else if you hit the while condition and it's false. Breaking out of the loop will skip it. When it hits the else, it'll only execute what's in that block once.

I ended up falling into a deep hole after looking up that channel. Like I had already seen things like that before, but one thing led to another and I'm reading some real nasty comments on vtubers' real life selves. I know it's the internet and there are some real bitter assholes out there, but these people need to chill out and learn to just enjoy the entertaining anime avatars.

You can already fuck a robot. It's been possible for quite a long time, actually. I'm sure it's not what you're imagining, but the technically correct answer is "yes".

Yeah, but the commanders do get to skip a step with actual human beings. I do get your point on pillaging and raping, but there are other consequences too. If America had robotic military, would we ever leave a place like Afghanistan?
American casualties are low and veterans are already often neglected. Humans being involved wasn't a significant factor in withdrawal. In fact, I'm not even sure if we're going to withdraw for real for real this time. If we do actually withdraw, we could just as easily return in a short while like with Iraq. I'm just not seeing robots making it any worse. Not better, either, just about the same as usual.

He's making a flow of the evolution of warfare for you:

1) Boots on the ground, soldiers see the people they are shooting
2) Soldiers operating drones, seeing only people from a zoomed out lens (and in many ways built to be like a video game)
3) Drones given a command by someone higher up that doesn't even need to look at the people getting killed.
Those giving the commands already don't need to look at the people getting killed. At least with robots I don't have to worry about one having a mental breakdown and going on a shooting spree just because or having to worry about pillaging and raping.

Makes a huge difference. Imagine how much more effective a brutality or war crime you could commit if you don't have to deal with the individual soldier's sense of morality. This is already an issue with drone strikes, etc.

Gonna be honest, It's 10.48am on a monday and I don't have the time or energy to get into a lengthy debate about machine ethics on gamefaqs.
Except drone strikes are still controlled by people.

A lot more scary. A cop, even a bad one, has a conscience. A machine does not.

I mean they covered this in the first chapter of iRobot...
What difference does a conscience make? Doesn't seem to make a difference in police brutality or war crimes.
