DPP holds a special place for me because it (and HGSS) were the only games where I got something close to the "authentic" Pokemon experience.

RBY and GSC I didn't really have friends who were into it enough to play much with them.
Didn't play any gen 3 at all.

But with DPP and HGSS I had two friends start at the same time as me-- we all picked different starters, we regularly battled, traded, and all that, going at roughly the same speed through the game. It was really very fun and makes me appreciate like... philosophically, what Pokemon is going for with the multiple versions, beyond just being a cash grab. Peak Pokemon for me.

I guess what I'll say is

I've never played Smash at an Uber competitive level. Not total casual either though. Like I do prefer no items, and I have some friends who play it competitively and I can hold my own with them. But yeah, I don't know tier lists super well or anything, obviously, cause don't play competitive Smash. I play casual Smash in a competitive way.

Melee was the only one where Kirby felt difficult to win with to a point where it was joke character tier vibes. I mean I use Dan in competitive Street Fighter so like, I'm not a tier slave or in any way a stranger to using low tier characters but yeah. Kirby just felt difficult in Melee. His knockbacks on everything just seemed really bad-- hated the stupid fire dash the most, that was like the microcosm of everything wrong with Melee Kirby.

Anyway. Big picture this probably doesn't matter that much but he is my #1 favorite character so I'm sure it does matter at least a little.

I'm not saying he's top tier in other games (thought he was high tier in 64 and Brawl) but isn't he like trash tier in Melee and at least mid in the others?

I just know Melee is the only game I've ever had difficulty being good with Kirby in. I actually mained Marth there it was so tough.

All Smash games are good but I have some difficulty enjoying this one much. It's either this one or Brawl as my least enjoyed in the series. It's just a bit too twitchy.

It being the only game in the series where Kirby is kinda bad doesn't help either I'm sure.

Im a bit weird-- second game is probably my favorite these days. 2-4 just sticks with me so well compared to everything else in the series.

I legit think if 2-4 doesn't exist I scarcely even identify as a big Ace Attorney fan. High highs count for a lot.

It's a fun game but I also feel like I get basically all the fun I get out of it by just repeatedly running the first stage. There isn't a ton there for me.

This one has Spiderman so it's the best one by a slim margin, even if the first one has the most iconic arena.

There is some game by game there and it's definitely better now. But I would consider like PS2 to now sort of a NES to SNES jump. PS3 to PS5 feels like... less. The jump from PS2 to PS3 was fairly significant and since then it's felt more iterative.

Yeah I go with PS3/360/Wii

My definition of modern is like... "does a sports game look fairly realistic on this tech" and I just don't think stuff has really advanced that much since then.

I'm very sparing with "aged" comments

To me it's mostly for mechanics that are obviously better executed on better tech (like Goldeneye with bad fps) or mechanics that always sucked but were given a pass because we didn't have better options (like Dragon Warrior's menus)

I'd say Ocarina's stuff is as good as it's ever been. I never liked it back then either.

I just wish you saw more of Cecil's character development. He's pretty much the same character as a Paladin and a Dark Knight. Kinda wish the game started a bit before the Mysidia "this is wrong" thing. Give him a few missions where it's of dubious morality but kinda accepted and then have him have that "whoa" moment there.

We never really know Cecil before he "turns good" and that really hurts the character for me.

Just not my kinda game. The combat is too dumbed down to be fun, Zelda's story was never good, and the puzzles/exploration are tedious. Gave the games this through Wind Waker a chance and then silently gave up on the series.

Do kinda wanna play Breath of the Wild though I feel like I might like that one.

It would be nice if they only charged you however much the card is worth. So if you pick a common it only cost you one gem. Of course they'll never do that, but it would be cool

That'll never happen for sure.

A pity system of some sort where like you can use "wasted" points to repick cards I feel might be vaguely possible though.

Like maybe you could spend 3 wasted points to get a repick on a wonder pick or something. So hey you get a 1 point card on a 4 point pick? Next 4 point pick you'd get two chances at it or something. Or if you wait till you botch 4 4 pointers you could rig the card you want.
