I recently rewatched this movie and also recently finished Barry season 4, and it never even occurred to me the similarities between the 2. Grosse Pointe Blank is about a former army man turned professional assassin who feels something is missing, and also has a confidant played by a chubby funny man, this time Dan Akroyd. Barry fans, this sounding a little familiar? It's also a great movie, John Cusack is likable in it and Minnie Driver is adorable as usual. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

Was watching some behind the scenes and the show creator Kripke basically said they're making it up as they go along which worries me, I would have preferred a clear vision and at least a loose outline of the entire story. I get that it was Amazon Prime's most popular show, probably the only one before they hit it big with Invincible and even bigger with Fallout, but that's still no reason to drag it out. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

All the more reason to see him get owned in the show I guess...at this rate not sure how long they can keep him around without it feeling contrived. The way season 3 ended felt the most egregious with this, just ridiculously contrived to make everything return to the status quo and have nothing really happen of importance to the overall story. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

saspa 05/01/24 5:04:01 AM #18 | I finished the 6 issues for Batman 89 and... overall I don't think I liked it much.
Pros: - Initial presentation of Harvey Dent and African American struggle - Idea behind "Drake Winston" as Robin Cons: Literally everything else. Story is contrived, weak. They start with a supposed turf war between gangs dressed up as Batman and gangs dressed up as Joker but go nowhere with that plotline. Batman being nothing like Michael Keaton's Batman or Tim Burton Batman is fine, if he weren't so incompetent and weirdly written. Return of Catwoman is not as exciting, despite brimming with potential. The whole comic idea was full of potential but they really didn't do it justice to be honest. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

Conan Obrien was in this episode! Was hoping to see more of him, I like the guy's show. The lawyer resisting the "I like it/I want it" gambit was the highlight of the episode. It's a joke that was even on Seinfeld 30 years ago (Jerry and that "space pen" which I just googled to see if still exists/still a thing) Heh one of the many reasons why I'd never buy a used car is exactly what happened in this episode, if the former owner being a smoker who completely stunk up the car. In real life the smell is unbearable. A mock trial though makes me think the show might really end the way I joked about... not that they haven't been foreshadowing it and throwing jokes about the Seinfeld finale every chance they can (which are always hilarious especially Larry's reaction to the subtle diss) --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

saspa 04/29/24 1:49:47 AM #17 | Season 12 Episode 6: The Gettysburg Address
Larry parodies the Lincoln speech to get Lori Loughlin into the golfing club after she became a social pariah. This episode made me google to see if Lori Loughlin was in jail/ever sent to jail. Dark but funny episode, she was great in it and very self-aware. The college admissions bribery scandal was so huge that even others like Felicity Huffman got outed. The rest of the episode was alright too. The Sienna Miller eating food while acting in every scene thing reminded me of a decades old Cracked article I once read about how Brad Pitt always seems to be eating something in his movies like Ocean's eleven or even Fight Club, and a joke about how this was done to make him seem "approachable" since he's otherwise so handsome he's off-putting. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

Heck, it's not even just about entertaining themselves, since I know some people will simply never like video games regardless if it makes sense or not. It's also about finally having the freedom to work on yourself, admittedly if you're lucky enough to have the means and opportunity. Like I finally learned to cook, really cook. I'm embarrassed that I've just been ordering food or had it already prepared in easy containers all my life, and the pandemic got me to cook. And I discovered that not only did I love it, I was good at it. Felt like a missing piece I found. So between exercise and preparing meals and cooking meals and playing games and chatting with people, there was never a single second where I was bored. But yeah I sometimes wonder how these people who were supposedly so bored still hadn't deigned to try video games, despite games being way more ubiquitous than they were even just 20 years ago. The interactive and engaging nature of video games could make hours seemingly pass by in the blink of an eye. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

Lol I know it's a running theme that Larry is always wrong (except for maybe 2 cases/scenarios) but obsessed about a fish? It's such a weird thing to harp on, but perhaps it makes sense for a super old, retired, rich dude with literally nothing to do all day to focus on even the most minute weird things. Anyway took half the season but they finally got rid of Irma. Doesn't seem like Larry to stick with a relationship because he feels bad, I had to reskim season 11 to see if maybe she was blackmailing him to stay (which would make more sense in character and in universe) but I couldn't find anything --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

saspa 04/28/24 7:31:31 AM #25 | It both ruined my plans and yet also came up at the most opportune moment. Had just finished a major project at work and was finally negotiating with the boss to use up all my accumulated vacation days... and then bam March hit.
Used that time to get some exercise and basically played Breath of the Wild day and night. While so many around me and on social media were posting about how bored they were and how there's nothing to do, I was laughing in video games. It's funny just how immersive video games could be, you could be playing for 6 hours and barely feel more than 30 minutes had gone by. So many people don't realize this or just have no interest in video games. All things considered I had a nice staycation. Can't believe it's been 4 years. Spartacus endings always make me chuckle. How many times is the Country Club owner Takahashi gonna threaten to kick Larry out, and didn't he already not kick him out because Larry saw that he was having an affair with a married woman who had a baby with him and was pretending to her husband that it's his? I mostly liked this episode. I don't know how I feel about them showing that the therapist is being unethical and disclosing patient's information to others even her own husband. But more importantly isn't that... didn't that actress already guest star in another episode? I'll need to find it but wasn't she the wife of an inventor of a car periscope that Larry and Jeff were gonna invest in? --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg |

One of the first sitcoms of the 21st century to not have a laugh track, not to mention the single camera format that's better for viewers but much more difficult for the actual people behind the show to do, makes this a landmark show imo. However, I don't care for the stranger things girl I don't really see why the critics or even audience love her. Hope she's not in godzilla vs kong 2. Unironically thought Kong: Skull Island was good. Godzilla 2019 was kinda disappointing in that felt like they blew their load too soon introducing King Ghidorah the 3-headed dragon when I thought he was basically Godzilla's ultimate nemesis.
