Im up to week 2 day 4? In NEO TWEWY at the moment

story has been fine so far, but it seems like its relying on the story of the original which seems a little weird for games released so far apart. Maybe thats just me.

the gameplay itself is also Ok but its definitely been a button masher so far, I have played on Hard the entire time since Ive unlocked it and Ive only died whenever my team gets hit by a bear or elephant after I tried to dodge but my team didnt. Rhinos seem bugged since they just charge around but cant hit anything. battles seem like a loop of just using all the energy in your pins and waiting for them to recharge, so its kinda awkward sitting there sometimes while you cant attack and enemies dont attack you

ill reserve judgement on the story until completing it, its not as bad so far as what Ive heard but its not as good IMO as the original so far

the original music for NEO is great IMO but Im not a fan of the remixes of the DS music

I won't lie, I did feel this way initially about the gameplay, and my hands hurt a bit from the button mashing. It was bothersome much as I loved actually playing the game and going through the world and seeing the characters engage with each other.

I will say this though, after the game opens up a bit and bombards you with pins, you can absolutely start playing it as a non-button masher. See it's important to find the right synergy with pins, and know what to use for each type of noise monster. More importantly you should focus on getting beat drops, which is what your battle style should revolve around, so check what activates the beat drop of each pin, and focus on that during combat to increase your groove so you can do mash attacks and clear all those enemies. Each enemy is different, like with rhinos sure, you could try to go all the way around them to attack them, or you can knock them out and get a few licks in while they're down, since you can attack them from the front when they're down.

And status ailments are your friends. I love freezing enemies and ensnaring them.

I'm doing the post game stuff now. The other topic purged unfortunately, but I've really been into getting the unique pins and ensemble pins, as well as doing Another Day and previous stuff I missed.

Just wanted to say I'm really excited I got the black cat pins set! There was one pin in particular (black cat comet) that I was dreading trying to get because the topics from 2021 were lamenting how impossible it was to get, with a low drop rate, and theories about the game being glitched about it. But when I went to get it, I got it on the first try! I immediately cheered and breathed a sigh of relief, then immediately saved. I don't know if SE maybe released a patch for the game in the 3 years since it came out but I was grateful either way.

1: good movie, but eddie murphy really brings it. I mean the effort he puts in for comedy and his antics is 110%, seeing this makes you realize how he shot to fame

2: also good, with some good old fashioned eastern european baddies. The tall blonde villain lady was dumb. Having her on the heists is insanely conspicuous and just makes them easier to track down doesn't it

3: a bit different from the first 2, a lot of dumb moments, and some hilarious editing like when eddie murphy tries to rescue the kids on that ferris wheel

Jessica Jones was really amazing, but then the writers didn't know what to do with her character in The Defenders.

They didn't know what to do with anyone in the defenders. That entire series was hogwash.

Anyway I'm surprised at all the praise going on in this topic, because right before the pandemic when netflix lost all the shows right before disney plus, people had really started to sour on the netflix marvel shows. They didn't even like punisher s2. They even tried to retroactively diminish Daredevil's quality.

Marvel TV really deserved better. It's not necessary for there to have been a gigantic meetup between the movies and shows to really bridge the gap, but still it would have been nice to not have the MCU be outright dismissive of the TV shows.

That Daredevil season 1 opening is amazing, and really sets the stage for that amazing first season.

I don't know why they went with Kang (good lord is jonathan majors a super annoying actor) and that longass exposition dump final sequence in Loki's s1 finale was both cringe and boring, makes me nostalgically miss the matrix 2's architect scene.

You'd think, since they had bought Fox and X-Men right around the time of Endgame, that they'd immediately get to work focusing on casting and slowly building up multiverse to include X-Men and do a proper Marvel reunion, since I think they own it all now right.

And since everyone already calls the MCU movies just longform television or "glorified" episodes of a show, then they could finally do a movie with enough character development for a roster as bloated as X-Men, maybe initially start small before building up to all of them, which was Fox's mistake time and time again.

I think, ironically, they did that to try and avoid that exact thing. Like, if they'd just called it Dungeons & Dragons they might've been afraid the general audience might think, "What, a remake of that shitty movie from the early 2000s? Pass."

I weirdly agree with both of you. Like I could tell the subtitle was put in to distance themselves from that old 2000 movie, and while it was fitting in the context of the movie, it also felt like it was limiting.

I was not expecting the tablet of reawakening to be a real thing. I thought it was another thing that Fordge was tricking chris pine's crew into believing so that he'd do the job and betray the harpers' vault of treasures.

Either that or I thought there was going to be a lesson about how necromancy is bad and bringing people back from the dead has disastrous results which the good looking hero thayan wizard guy Xencht(?) warned chris pine about earlier.

But maybe because michelle rodriguez was freshly dead so that makes it okay? More like a defiblirator than a dark magic device that brings people back to life?

It really is a phenomenal movie. I found it comparable to Guardians of the Galaxy, a movie about a band of misfits with very good humor and a surprisingly heartfelt story and message.

Yeah I can see it. Especially since like GotG, it's set in a genre that I normally don't care about (scifi/space/alien stuff for gotg and fantasy for d&d) but because the actual movie is great, I was extremely invested. That's the mark of a truly great movie, that it can enrapture people who otherwise don't care about the genre.

It's very good. Not only for D&D fans with all the specific references and locales, but for anybody who enjoys fantasy as a genre.

It did somewhat poorly at the box office because most movies have been down since Covid, but also there was that whole "one D&D" fiasco which compelled a lot of people to boycott D&D right around the time of its release. I doubt it had a big impact but I imagine there was some.

As someone who plays rpgs, who were inspired by D&D as I'm always told, I loved seeing all types of references, from the big stuff like dragons and monsters, to specific stuff like mimics when I saw the treasure chests in the maze. I immediately thought/hoped there would be a mimic monster posing as a treasure chest and I cheered when I was right.

Even in a post Kingdom Hearts and Persona world, somehow the game didn't do well sales wise (according to Square Enix at least). TWEWY combines elements of action rpg with a catchy soundtrack just like persona, and has some KH elements as well, it's like a combination of the 2.

The original game on DS was one of the greatest games of all time, and my personal favorite, which came out of nowhere, being from the developers that designed the Chain of Memories KH game on gba. Yet they came out swinging with this game, utilizing every element of the DS in a fun way all wrapped up in an engaging and heartfelt, emotional story. The game was a modest success on the DS, and while SE did not pursue it as a franchise like KH and FF, we gamers were still happy they localized it for us in the first place, since 2008 was a different time from what the gaming industry looks like now.

And it's understandable that they didn't really expand on it back then, because while KH was popular, other series like Persona were only just gaining traction with the release of 3 and 4.

But fast forward to 2021, by then we'd gotten many types of games, Kingdom Hearts had become even bigger than it was before, and Persona had reached massive popularity with people playing 5, the spinoffs, the sequels, all of it. And TWEWY is almost a perfect blend of the action rpg elements from KH, with the real world setting of Persona and a very catchy pop soundtrack. Yet despite that opportunity, SE still didn't ensure that Neo sold well nor capitalized on getting that market which was available on both Switch and PS4, the primary consoles for KH and especially persona. It was understandable in 2008, but in 2021 people not knowing about this amazing game and series downright hurts.

I was saying this for a while too. When the ps5 gen started I was literally flabbergasted that it still only came with 1 tb which the ps4 was already being shipped as. It would be like if the console came with avi cables instead of an hdmi cable.

But now that we're approaching the 4th year of the gen and I'm thinking of finally buying a ps5, and seeing how sparse the game library is for the console, suddenly 1 TB doesn't seem so bad and 2 TB is overkill if there's only like 5 games I'm interested in that aren't crossgen games already available on ps4.

Doesn't stop it from being ridiculous though, especially since games are only getting larger and eating up more and more space. And I wish I could say it's because they've become massive and full of gameplay to enjoy, it's really because devs today straight up don't even bother with compression techniques.

It's weird how storage space, in general, hasn't caught up the way every other facet of technology has. They still don't make Petabyte HDD storage or even just half a petabyte.

It's funny how in KH Final Mix, I actually gave up the sword, instead of choosing it like I always do in normal KH. Choosing staff and giving up sword is the most ideal in that game's scenario though because MP is super important, and can't be increased through stat buffs like strength and defense up, so it makes it the obvious choice.
