I went from vaguely being aware of Ana Kasparian's existence to me disliking her because she's adopted some really shit views lately.

Cenk I started the same, however after hearing 2 interviews with him that dude is insufferably into himself and thinking he's the smartest guy in the room. Both times he started out fine and acceptable, eventually he flips that.

He would have to do a lot to make up for DC's performance to not only catch up, but even more so to surpass or overshadow.

I like James Gunn, I really do, however I think you are almost obsessively optimistic about how he's just going to blow everything out of the water once he gets in there.

He'll certainly make the DCU better than it was.

The latter is how our media is presenting it, however his words do not support that. For comparison, Thomas and Alito said it should be "left up to the states", however do you honestly believe they don't support a national abortion ban and wouldn't uphold it were it to come to them?

As I said, Biden has 2 days in a row explicitly stated he would veto any national abortion ban that came to his desk. That's how you definitively say you're against something.

But once again our media is running defense for Trump and obfuscating what we all know he would do once the opportunity to arise. This dude gets more benefit of the doubt than he could ever possibly deserve. These losers constantly say things like "he's pivoting on the issue" and "it's unclear where he stands" because after bragging about ending Roe a week later (it's daily recently, used to be by weeks) he'll flip on the issue to try and appear more moderate, only to shortly in the future once again proudly boast that he ended Roe.

I also think the Border/Ukraine bill just completely broke her. She was one of the main architects of the Senate's bipartisan bill. It got through the Senate just to ne murdered in the crib by the GOP House for pure election politics reasons. I caught an interview of hers with NPR during the whole saga and she just sounded fundamentally defeated.

Oh my, did she perhaps actually learn that her former Dem party weren't just a bunch of haters who refused to work with the GOP and came to discover just how vile and vindictive that party actually is?

Though I guess that would imply she was capable of learning lessons and I didn't see that during her time as a Senator.

However, I never finished DB. I get somewhere early into the RR arc and drop off for whatever reason, like 2 or 3 times now.

I know King Piccolo is a problem and that Goku essentially falcon punches a piccolo egg outta him, however I don't know if that's also something caused by Goku's presence or if King Piccolo would have been a threat regardless.

I've heard personally (on radio) from many of the candidates in various states who went on to go win their seats talk about how abortion and loss of their rights was by far the most talked issue for the vast majority of doors they knocked on/feedback they got.

Much of the GOP realizes this, however they're also stuck trying to appease these people and dealing with true believers who are full-steam ahead on the most draconian laws imaginable.

The IVF debacle in AL showed us this, unless that's what you were referencing. I thought it was about the recent Dem victory with the like 22 point swing.

Honestly, the fact that Republicans have pushed it back as far as they have is already insane - Trump further supporting it is whatever for now. I'm sure there's plenty of "the base" that would love for him to go full hog, but anti-abortion to that extent is NOT the populous opinion in the US, and you lose a lot of moderates w/ that.

Trump will almost assuredly still win in the general, but still like this doesn't help him, at least not much.

80% of the nation supports abortion rights and only 13% want a total national ban. They're appealing to a Christo-fascist minority at the expense of everybody else because that's their most diehard base.

It hasn't helped them in recent elections and I see no reason why it would help them in future ones.

I hope one of the arguments that is brought forth to the USSC is that if the President has immunity from all laws, he could simply execute the USSC and install his own justices.

That would be the logical route, however people in their position are not always logical when it comes to fascism.

Was learning today about how Hitler had a whole bunch of wealthy industrialists come in for a meeting and basically told them that democracy isn't great because there's uncertainty, thus they should be an autocracy, and that if they help him win he'll make them even richer.

Then they did, and they did get richer, however many were also tried during the Nuremburg trials for their role in funding the Nazi party.

The rich and powerful can get pretty short-sighted when the prospect of millions being thrown into their face is presented to them.

Same, I'm also cautiously optimistic that FL is within sight not just for POTUS, however also Scott's senatorial seat. True, however it is the difference between us knowing that Republicans suppress voting because when more people vote they tend to lose, and them literally saying it because Trump's allowed them to just stop giving a fuck about even pretending to be decent people.

I think one of the main issues Dems have historically had with trying to educate the masses about Republicans is even though they were always evil, they at least used to put on a presentation that created doubt. They created wiggle room that "made" Dems sound crazy/unhinged because there was that room for doubt.

Republicans have removed that room for doubt when they literally say the quite part out loud and that so far has made some pretty good ads.

tl;dr, it might not mean much to those of us educated on these things, however I think there is benefit to the masses.
