I also reached out to Ayaneo to enquire about ordering a replacement battery, and the cost is actually a lot lower than I expected. About US$70 including shipping. So I guess one way or another, my Ayaneo will be getting revived (unless the reseller offer something really good, which is unlikely - realistic outcome might be at best they cover the cost of the new battery).
I was able to get set up on my gf's laptop in the meantime (basically same specs, but laptop rather than handheld) but yeah, gaming on a laptop or TV just doesn't feel the same now that I'm used to handheld. Also disposed of the old battery today. Not entirely sure the local rubbish dump knows how to handle these as they just threw it in a container with a whole bunch of other (mostly disposable) batteries. But oh well, their problem now. Someone who can barely afford food shouldn't have to pay for healthcare too, but I don't see any issue with well-off people having to make a small contribution.

I have the same opinion. A quality rechargeable vape that you only need to buy pods and juice for saves a lot of money. The initial investment might get pricey, but you save more money in the long run.This. It's a huge difference. Pod vapes work out like 30% cheaper than disposables, and the upfront cost is comparable to a disposable anyway. And the gap between pod vapes and refillable vapes is even bigger, though the upfront cost is somewhat more significant in this case, even so, you can get something decent plus a bottle of liquid for the cost of 5-6 disposables, and it'll pay for itself (compared to disposables) within a few weeks tops. --- Do, or do not.
