Halo 2600 is a retro "demake" for the 2600.
Metroid is a classic NES game for the NES.
Hydlide is an old NES game for the NES.

I made another one, with Elrond's eyes and mouth visible. Unfortunately, by the time the image was done Elrond looked like Nauls from The Thing (1982) *after* he had been taken over--pure nightmare fuel. So... be careful what you wish for? lol

I used to joke with coworkers that the two worst bands were Creed and Nickleback, but Nickleback sucked worse than Creed.

The critical time gap in TFA is the events that were not shown during Rey's trip to Luke.

TLJ's opening scene, unlike most SW movie sequels, starts before Rey lands on Ahch-To, filling that time gap in TFA.

If it's not apparent from the movie why the Jedi texts are important then they are not important to the movie.

The Jedi texts let Luke summarize the PT for Rey, and his reasons for wanting to end the Jedi, in 20 seconds.

I never finished that final tower dungeon though. A hundred floors filled with super tough enemies, without Atla, and when you're done you get a sword you're probably barely gonna use at that point anyway? Yeah no thanks, ain't nobody got time for that.

I did. :) Its Back Floor areas have even better loot and tougher enemies. The final boss is no joke though. If you don't keep moving it will OHKO you.

Leia, as a Senator in the Empire, as a founder of the New Republic, as a leader of the new resistance, should have lots of connections and be able to pool a lot of systems to her side.

It was her connection to Vader that made many keep their distance, even when Leia told of the growing threat posed by the First Order. IIRC, the Resistance was former members of the Rebel Alliance who were willing to join.

Step back from the books and look at their role in the story.

The books led Luke to discover the history of the Jedi, the nature of the Force, and the relation of the Jedi to the Force. Luke's time with Obi-Wan and Yoda was essentials only; they didn't have time to give him history lessons. Yoda told Luke that knowledge needed to be passed on [to Rey], even if Luke didn't like the idea of it being done without the guidance Luke believed was needed but not available [due to him not being willing to do that guiding].

That was a similarity I hadn't thought of before but I swear the longer you compare the trilogies the more repeated scenes you find.

Space battles tend to be similar. The moments that make them stand out are not when the units fight against each other as groups; it's when one member of a unit makes a critical strike or sacrifice that allows their side to "turn the tide" of the fighting in their favor.

Now if you're talking about the texts as a plot device keeping Luke anchored to inaction, yeah that's a big similarity with ESB that I already mentioned. Reclusive jedi master doesn't want to get involved, but a force ghost convinces them to act.

Luke used those old books as an excuse to "try to get everything right, someday" instead of trying to get the one thing right that everyone not FO needed "today."

Old SW themes with new story ideas *is* what Johnson told Hamill TLJ would be, and it was. It also followed the same tone, for better or for worse, set by The Force Awakens.
