The best way I can describe this game is that it feels like a cheap bootleg version of Mario made by some people who don't really know the series that well. The star theme is different, Koopas explode after you fill them for some reason, and it doesn't control very well. The term JRPG came about effectively to distinguish the console-style RPGs coming out of Japan from the computer-style RPGs coming out of the west. However, then you had Bioware break the dichotomy in the 2000s followed by a bunch of Japanese games doing the same thing going the other way. Its a really useless term these days, theyre just RPGs. Although that term is also a bit ambiguous now! yeah I agree with this. Personally, I wouldn't call either the FF7 Remakes or Souls games JRPGs, but if you count the FF games I think the Souls games count just as much. I think JRPG nowadays means less action-based RPGs like Persona, DQ, LaD, etc. Maybe we need to come up with a better term for that genre --- MZero, to the extreme https://www.twitch.tv/kabazame |
