To be fair, being the falcons is pretty bad punishment as it is. Though I believe the punishment was lesser for the teams than the Dolphins because of the manner in which they tampered.

I don't think Sports betting should be illegal, because I don't think making it illegal does much to solve the problem. People like betting on sports. I'm not sure why. I've done very little gambling in my life. Had a few vacations in Vegas cause my sister-in-law lives there, and works at a casino. But didn't do much gambling. If I want to throw money away, I will hand it to my kids and they will find a way to waste it for me. It's a lot less work, they're happy, Disney's happy. It's win/win for everyone (Well except me I guess, but my kids are happy, so that's all that matters) I guess for most people it's the rush of having real money on the line. But they like doing it. But I cannot speak from personal experience as to why people like gambling on sports. I can only guess.

I think the better option is to regulate it. Unregulated gambling is more dangerous than regulated gambling. Much like I think unregulated drug sales are more dangerous than regulated drug sales. My point wasn't that we should decriminalize, and that's it. We should decriminalize, and then also require mandatory treatment for drug addicts. For gambling addicts too, for that matter. I think our criminal justice system is already clogged with turning people into criminals. And while i don't think everyone is just some innocent victim, I don't think there are two classes of people either: I don't think our classes are 'criminal' and 'not criminal'. I also don't think they should be allowed to advertise drugs or gambling either.

I wish things were as simple as 'Drugs are illegal, most people won't use them.' I've seen the affects drug addicts have on the people around them. And it's super shitty. I wish it were as simple as 'gambling is illegal, so most people won't gamble.' I want people to be able to get the help they need, and in many cases forced to get the help they need. But what they ultimately need is help.

But people are mostly law-biding citizens. When you inform people something is illegal, especially with the smallest of enforcement, they typically abide. People stop at the most pointless of stop signs at the most pointless of times.

People are law abiding citizens when it is convenient for them, the risks outweigh the rewards, and when there's no alternative.

Take piracy for example. There's little to no risk of getting caught, so I'd say at least half of all people do it, with a big portion of the other half being older people who wouldn't know how to pirate unless their grandkids told them.

With gambling, there's pretty big rewards, and not that huge of a risk of getting caught.

I agree not all drugs should be decriminalized. But a lot of them could be, and it'd probably reduce the amount of the worse stuff getting produced and sold. Mostly because you're providing an alternative to those things.

We already put too many people in jail. Disproportionately minorities at that. We spend so much money fighting the war on drugs that we lost a long time ago. If we took some of that money and put into treatment for people facing addiction problems instead of jailing them because that's the easy answer, society would be far better off. Then took the rest of the money and put it into healthcare and education... Drug addiction should be considered a public health problem, not a criminal problem.

Illegal sports betting was a billion dollar industry before they legalized it. And it was pretty easy to access too. Probably easier than most people realize. And in those cases, the government doesn't get their cut. Sports gambling is a huge problem, but it's not one I think we can solve by banning it. If you have evidence otherwise, I'd love to see it.

I'm not sure making sports betting illegal really helps. It just drives people who have problems to shadier places to do their gambling. I think the sports leagues should agree not to advertise gambling services (it comes off as a bit hypocritical when they ban it on the premises of their facilities, but advertise it to their fans at least 8 times per game). And I think we need stricter regulations on it.

I loved Yang as a kid. He was an awesome monk who could kick enemies, hitting all of them at once. Plus his wife and her frying pan are awesome. (I'm surprised Sheila hasn't been in one of these, actually!) But it's hard to rate him too highly because he's pretty temporary. Also his sacrifice feels unnecessary.

I'm sure my wife mentioned it some time over the past couple of days. Not that I can specifically recall that she did.

I don't mind the music, I just mind hearing it for a straight hour while trying to find everything in this jenovaforsaken map.

Thought this would be a fun idea. Not sure if it's been done before or not. But basically this is how the contest works: One vote decides every match. You only get one vote per hour. (If you're the second vote, it doesn't count as a vote, and you can vote in the next available match). It keeps going until we get down to the final 2, then we have a full 24 hours for everyone to vote on the winner.

Rules:

1. You get 10 nominations and one super nomination.
2. For super nominations, you can only nominate characters who originate in a video game OR who are heavily associated with a video game (No Spider-Man or Superman or Batman for example, but Dracula from Castlevania or Geralt Of Rivia would be fine!) Your super nominations are guaranteed a spot in the contest.
3. For regular nominations any fictional character that isn't also a real person (e.g. Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal) is fair game.
4. It takes 3 nominations to get in. It's first come first serve, so the first 128~ characters to get 3 nominations get in. If noms take too long, the characters who reached 2 nominations first get in, followed by characters who got a single nomination. Because of this rule, I will not nominate any characters for the first 24 hours myself out of fairness. (Additionally, I cannot vote for the first hour after the topic is created!)
5. The Bracket will be 100% randomized. No seeding. Just random matches.
