They sent me one of those invites to purchase one from them directly a few years ago, so I thought why not? I got to play the Demon's Souls remake, at least. Plus, as someone who barely games on PC, the improved performance/visuals was a bigger deal for me. But even with that and a small handful of other exclusives, it was totally not necessary.

Yeah it was pretty much entirely a quality of life purchase.

They literally doubled down a year before release when they announced the last delay and said they won't remove live service despite all the complaints. Like, they KNEW people hated the concept and even acknowledged the complaints and said they aren't changing shit basically.

They would've basically had to completely rebuild the game, better to release it and take the hit than burn more dollars on making it good
