I had fun with some of the Hunter Tools so I don't think 20 Arcane hurts you or anything other than maybe putting you in a temporary hole early game since your STR/Skill/HP might be lower than they otherwise would be if you diverted it there and built the Arcane up more slowly over time.

I gravitated towards the skill weapons myself, ton of fun. If I ever get through enough of my backlog (lol. lmao.) I'd love to replay with STR weapons for a different feel.

Calling it a deal with China is pretty misleading. Both sides agreed to lower the tariff rates away from the comical one-upmanship game that landed them at like 200 and 100, but they still remain higher than they were in March on both sides and it appears to be more of a "For 90 days to have talks about an actual deal."

Trump will of course spin it as a win like he does everything but it really isn't. Things are still going to be worse than they were before "Liberation Day" they just might not be as cataclysmic.

if anything it's the brazenness of also announcing that they're going to transfer it to the presidential library at the end of his term that gets me. like, yeah, we knew he'd try and take it with him at the end of the term but straight-up saying that's the plan before he even gets it is something else - I'd say they're not even trying to use a "oh it's not a gift to trump personally it's a gift to the government and the american people" defense but i'm sure they'll still use that defense even if it's not a defense to begin with

I don't think it's literally confirmed but it'd be a surprise if it's not given that Archer is free from 3.4 to the end of 3.6 and the announcement for the Fate banners said they would be up "for a long time." So I think everyone has reasonably assumed they'll be up that same length of time Archer is available.

I'll admit I'm not very tuned into the political directions of the various sects of Christianity in America but my impression was that American Catholics were, at least relative to other American Christians, fairly liberal - and in fact significantly more so than the actual Church.

I know a lot of the American Cardinals are more on the right wing side of things - so much so that when I first heard the new Pope was American I was like "oh no what happened" before I read more - but I always felt a lot of the criticism in America towards the Pope (and let's be real, mostly Francis) actually came from American Protestants and not American Catholics.

...All this is me awkwardly trying to ask, "Would a moderate/slightly progressive Pope really make the political sentiments/leanings of American Catholics worse? I feel like it wouldn't really change much at all?"

While the escalation is definitely worrying, I think "omg it's world war #" alarmism is jumping the gun (like it was for Ukraine/Russia and Israel v everyone in the region to name recent examples)

Both sides still seem to be using the language of "we're just retaliating for [previous attack] and aiming at military infrastructure (regardless of the truth of that)" which is still the language you use when you're trying not to (or trying to project to the rest of the world) cross that line into open war. Same with the kind of language that seems to be overplaying what they actually did to make it look to their own citizens like they struck hard (like Pakistan claiming to have downed 5 Indian fighter jets... though I do believe that India has claimed one jet "crashed" reliable, unbiased info hard to come by)

If a game has voiced NPCs and you just talk to one and their one or two line thing is voiced and you have autoplay on is that really a cutscene? I would say no, though acknowledge I can understand a yes answer on some technical grounds.

I did think Seth was interesting in that his speech at the church in support of revenge for Joel felt rooted in the same kinda toxic mindset that caused him to hurl a slur at Ellie and Dina before but now that it's in support of a cause that the audience is presumably more sympathetic to (and obviously Ellie is) it "feels" like it's a "face turn" but only if you don't really examine where it's all coming from.

well that was the other reason i didn't want to rate. at the time i made my first post there were no ratings and i didn't want my wishy-washy score to be the sole determinant!

Gameplay was rough but maybe I'm just built to absorb framerate issues and (some) tedium? lol Love the characters, music, and - to an extent, the story (less the actual story and more the themes I guess? Kinda standard for a Yoko Taro story IMO though Nier and Automata are obviously much stronger on the "actual story" bit but same kinda deal where the themes transcend that.)
