I was originally not planning on nominating anything since I had the good fortune of having a game selected in three straight months (plus having one of the three-month games), but we have just two people having nominated games, so I suppose that I should diversify the pool. Since the Steam Summer Sale is about to begin, I will nominate some lesser-known games and hope that they get a discount if selected:

I'm on Chapter 7 I think of CrossCode. I will definitely not finish before the drawing, but I hope that I will complete the game by the end of the month. Just a few notes:

- This is such a dense game. Combat is fast, but the length of battles tend to be anything but. The puzzles are great but typically involving and plenty are timed with small windows of opportunity/error. I think that they needed to do more to give people a breather. Side quests have you do more battles and puzzles, and to my knowledge there really isn't anything else to occupy your time.

- Speaking of side quests, they don't seem to be worth the effort? I suppose some of them have intrinsic value for doing something different, like the moving platform trial in Bergen, but for the most part, you are basically doing what you always do, and the rewards aren't great. The rewards are even worse if you are even just a few levels above the suggested level as some rewards scale on that. All that I have equipped I have bought or found exploring. I'm thinking about ignoring them almost entirely and perhaps turning some in if I happen to meet the requirements while moving forward in the game.

- Stat gains from leveling up are kind of laughable? I think that looking at my base stats and what I have equipped, equipment-based stat increases count for 75-85% of my player stats right now. You basically gain 1 of most stats upon leveling up except for HP, which is slightly higher (and I don't think that every stat is raised upon leveling up). The one thing you do gain of importance is CP which is what you used to unlock abilties and stat increases on the Circuit tab (man, so leveling up probably accounts for single digit % of my player stats now that I think about my unlocks in Circuit).

Now don't get me wrong, I am still very much enjoying this game. I love solving the puzzles, and the combat is snappy and responsive. I just wish the game had fewer issues in other other important areas.

Atlas Fallen (XSX)

From the same makers as the soulslike games Lords of the Fallen and both The Surge games, this contains elements of soulslike games, mainly with their version of bonfires and how they repopulate [most but not all] enemies, the combat is the highlight here with fast and fluid combat with a ton, perhaps too much, of customization options in terms of what combat abilities and passives you can equip on your character.

There are things holding it back like exploration not being much fun (areas are way too vertical for what you can do), but the action part of this open-world action game is a lot of fun.
