I don't want to experiment with weapons until I find the one to upgrade, I literally just want to use all of them with no investment.

Okay, and just like other games when you want to dick about with no investment, mod it. This is a weird thing to expect of a game.

acesxhigh posted...
If you think that doesn't make sense, think about armour, nobody is arguing that armour should require upgrades before you put it on your guy.

Armour also doesn't do very much so it doesn't make a massive impact to gameplay.

acesxhigh posted...
I don't see a point where you explain why it's good to require late game weapon drops to be upgraded 10 times to be viable in the late game.

Because the enemy is strong, that doesn't mean the stuff they have is strong. Why should everything be perfectly suited to you upfront? The smith even serves a lore purpose that relies on you going to him to upgrade whatever you choose to use.

To my point, nobody is defending boss runbacks anymore but that was once a hot topic. Also Item Burden from Demons. Oh we need item burden cause X and Y reasons and if you remove it the game will be blah blah blah

They tried seeing if a classic RPG element worked in their first attempt and it didn't so they dropped it, it's not comparable.

This is why to have short-term AND long-term goals. Your goal has to lead in to something else, and ideally you have a lifetime ambition where realistically you can't "complete" it, but you can contribute to it indefinitely.

Yikes, what a mess of a post.

And how exactly can one properly experiment without scaling the weapon in question to the one you are currently using? Especially with alt attack modes and all the variances that come with it? It's not just the feel, but the DPS as well.

In other words "I don't choose a weapon because I like it, I choose it because I think I can find a secret OP min-max and the system is bad because it makes it harder for me to find said exploit."

The vast majority of weapons are just trade-offs with eachother, they suit people based on their playstyle. There is no intended use to looking for the most powerful weapon because they're supposed to be fairly balanced against eachother. If you just want to find the most OP combination you can just look it up online, if you want to play the game properly then you kind of can't go wrong just doing what you like.

Most of the world does reflect that. Its not like affluent neighborhoods are all over the place

They literally are, but I live in London so all the country's affluent neighbourhoods are here and expanding in to traditional shitholes

They could always commute rather than live in an area where the cost of living is so far out of their means, ya know?

Or they can live across the street from a restaurant where the average meal price is half their monthly salary and every other amenity is out of their price range.

Or... Because the area houses both groups, they also serve both groups. There shouldn't be places where the cheapest shopping is wholefoods, and there shouldn't be shitholes where Costco is a tourist attraction.

The existance of poor people does not have to mean the place is neglected, and the existance of rich people shouldn't make a place completely monoculture. Most of the world is in the middle and most of the world should reflect that.

I've seen estimates of the volume of gold in Smaug's hoard, and I don't think he even breaks the top 10. It says a lot that people writing billionaires in fiction can't even make them as wealthy as many real people because of how ludicrously implausible that real wealth is.

But Smaug's fortune is in immediately sellable assets, not buildings and speculation.

idk, 25 years in jail for 8 billion dollars? seems like a fair trade.

Not really, I'd willingly take that trade, which means the prison sentence isn't a disincentive to commit the crime.

a online multiplayer world with (supposed) ongoing support in the form of new content at a frequent enough pace (baseline minimum being bungies destiny support of once a year ofc)

if it's not live service then it's definitely live service adjacent

It's early access.

And yes, live service games are adjacent to betas, they develop half a game, see if people will fund the other half, then if it's not dead by then, start some DLC with that money
