I give my dog Purina pro which is on the higher side of mid-range and he's 10 and in perfect health. The place I got him from gives their dogs. And have never had any dietary problems.

Protip: dogs don't usually eat their own poop. One sign of malnutrition is seeing a dog who eats poop because he's trying to get more nutrients out of what was passed through.
