I remember once getting modded for talking about ps3 emulation and then doing my research to find out that despite the mods claims that it was legally possible due to something to do with a recent update with the ps4 at the time

That's a good point, I guess it's either an oversight or not even supposed to make sense. The only other explanation i can think of is that gendo is either imagining it or it was Mari's mom who was actually there and she taught Mari everything about the Eva's?

Mari was kinda just used as a plot device anyways, which really sucks considering she makes a great character.

If they ever do more (they probably will) i hope she gets fleshed out some more. Even just some understanding of her character more or some small reconstruction or even tweaks to make things more reasonable with her.

My understanding is that the manga ends with a universe reboot, meaning the events that fucked the world didn't happen. So without Yui getting sucked into Unit-02 and Gendo kicking off the plot, that generation of characters is able to exist in the world unaltered. So Mari can appear in that epilogue chapter in a gratuitous but fairly benign way that lines up with her role in the Rebuild canon.

This is just a fan theory, but what if Mari had been the first recipient of the Curse of Eva? We see her operating an Evangelion at the start of 2.22, and an unconventional one at that. That suggests she has experience with piloting Evangelion units, even extremely unconventional ones, and without knowing more about her upbringing and training it could be because she's one of the most experienced Eva pilots in the setting due to her age and experience with them. This is supported by her knowing how to pilot Unit-02, and even knowing the backdoor code The Beast.

That's not rookie shit. And she fully knows how to take advantage of the Beast mode, referring to Unit-02 with some degree of compassion or affection, suggesting some sort of familiarity.

Rather than being a direct contemporary of Yui and Fuyutsuki, maybe she was a willing teenage test pilot for the first run of the Evangelion units - the youngest member of the early Evangelion experiments who became locked at the same age as a result of the experiments. Meaning that when she ran into Shinji in 2015, she was actually in her thirties - and subsequently, reaching her forties during the time skip.

If you'll humor this theory for another second, this could explain A) why the fuck she's paratrooping into Japan as a teenager in 2.22 - she's actually been a spy and an Eva pilot for decades, so she has boots-on-ground experience with that sort of thing - B) how she knows so much about the Evangelions and how she's so proficient at piloting them in her first movie appearance - she's probably the most experienced and long-lived Eva pilot in the world - and C) how she knows Fuyutsuki - they were colleagues in the 90's, not contemporaries but definitely working on the Eva project in different capacities.

There are two issues with this.

First of all, if this is the case, that's some massive Mary Sue bullshit.

But secondly - at the end of Thrice Upon A Time, she reincarnates around the same age as Shinji. So maybe she WASN'T in her 40's by the end of the series. So take this with a grain of salt.

The issue is that she directly states out loud that was her first time piloting in 2.22

So unless she's been trying to pilot or has something to do with a contact experiment, it just doesn't make sense. She doesn't seem to be a clone either, so that's probably out. It's really hard to give any real reason she can be 15 in 2.22 but be around her current age when gebdo and yui met. Unless something is missing

She's supposed to be 15 in thrice upon a time

What exactly do you expect to find? I'm really not sure what your position on Neon Genesis is. It seemed to me like you were just popping in to bring up the weirdness of Tokyo 3 & how the Angel attacks aren't explained very well, especially with the Europeans coming into the scene through Asuka, and we learn of her trials. Guess not.

People do not really watch Evangelion (or discuss it, or think too much about it) for any reason other than (primarily) their lasting adoration for the main cast. Kaji doesn't really have a real arc tho. In a way, and in a big way, this thread was most correct. I was just popping in to drop some notions.

First of all, anything gundam is amazing, war in the pocket was a great series, but I don't really see the comparison to evangelion unless talking about the idea in Eva of not knowing where allegiances lie and who's truly a friend or a foe and what happens when you have to fight and or kill someone you love. I forget the original zone of the 3nders story because I was a kid when I played it.

I feel like Kaworu was rushed in 3.33 honestly and only got his character arc truly filled in at the end of thrice upon a time. And a lot of it is metaphorical in a way, but most of that has to do with finding the messages layed out and all the religious references. Most people don't know what the book of life is, the gate of guf, or even the fact that Lilith is not Eve, or even Christian(sort of). She is actually meant to be a demon in certain sects of Judaism(sometimes a replacement for eve or other thing? which makes the humans in eva spawing of Lilith to fight beings called angels quite ironic.

Depends. You aren't going to get a display that supports incredibly clear motion, no ghosting, 120FPS without getting a really large display, like 65 and spending almost $1K on it after taxes(Not sure about Black Friday 2021 sales though). IMO If you aren't mainly doing high end PC gaming, I wouldn't worry that much about it. Just make sure to look up popular models on a fairly notable site like rtings.com and make sure it has all of the features you want before commiting to a purchase.

120hz is worth it with the new consoles actually. Or even just medium to high pc stuff.

Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the Fist Flame is good, not as good as the first game but definitely a worthwhile game. The main issues were the enemies just being placed in large numbers for easy kills, but SoTFF overhauled the enemy placements, and the DLC areas were pretty good in comparison to the rest of the game. They were made by the original level designer for Dark Souls iirc.
There was also an issue with the lighting not looking nearly as good as the preview was, but someone was working on a mod last I checked.

If you do end up trying it, soul level doesn't matter for match making, only your total number of Souls ever collected matters.

Shinji shares partial responsibility for it happening, because he was the first domino in a domino effect that Gendo planned out. When you unknowingly commit a crime, you're still guilty of that crime, it is just in a negligent manner. In terms of Shinji, think of it more like negligent manslaughter rather than first degree murder, if that helps put it more into perspective.
Shinji's Impact still caused a LOT of destruction, as we see in 2.0 that it destroys a lot more of Tokyo-III that survived Zeruel's attack. The massive explosion Eva-01's awakening causes most assuredly caused casualties. His impact physically destroyed parts of (if not most of) Tokyo-III, but didn't result in any metaphysical alterations (i.e. people being turned into the Failures of Infinity or LCL).

I mean it makes sense but I don't know if I agree exactly.

Like I guess it just works better in thrice upon a time where only some people hate him. In 3.33, everyone acts like every death was explicitly his fault, while he has no idea what even happened. I don't even know if what he was doing would be manslaughter.

Like, if someone gave you a gun and told you to kill a dangerous animal and it just happened to have a bomb in it that went off because you fired too many bullets or something. Or got too emotional. Or like an accident nuclear powerplant because someone else was doing some off the books test you weren't aware of.

Shinji thought he was doing the opposite of causing the third impact and had every reason to believe it.

On the other hand Asuka is not even human anymore and Mari knows what the Eva's are. So does Ritsuko. Almost Everyone besides Shinji is basically implicit and they all treat him like crap.

I love legal eagles videos. I admit that I'm kinda annoyed he won't take a (my) side, he does make it explicitly clear that no matter what is believed by who, the jury did not find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Even though he seems to very much like he heavily implies that not only did he provoke the first incident, it would have been the same legal outcome if someone killed rittenhouse. I will always probably look at him as a murderer.
