Seems like the point of her story was that it takes a lot of work to get a company like Google where it is today. A lot of success stories are like that. People really underestimate how much work running and setting up a business is. Like think about how later in the company's life, you have entire departments for HR, finance, etc. When it's earlier, the entire department is you.

And something else to note, is if you're working in a start-up or have any passion for your work, the thing becomes like your baby and you it feels more like you're building something. Like that's your stamp on the world. They don't see things as "working for their corporate overlords." She went to Stanford. I've read quite a few. I think most have some nuggets of wisdom.

One in particular that struck a cord with me is the concept of an emotional bank account from the Seven Habits of Effective People. It's basically describes how relationships with people are built and maintained. You have to spend quality time with people to build rapport or even keep it at all. The lack of this is why so many people drift apart, or why somethings never start. It's why even occasional small talk is so important.

I'm sure it's common sense to most people, but it was big for me because it was so different from how my parents raised me.
