Russia feels insecure because Ukraine is drifting towards the West. It's too late for Russia to do anything though, as it's pretty much a big third world country with a crap economy that is only relevant because of the nukes it still has. Maybe if they didn't want to be in this situation, the oligarchs shouldn't have undermined and destroyed the USSR.

You don't seem to be able to make a logical point here.

It goes like this:

1. Countries move troops near their borders
2. This is something normal that Countries and alliances do
3. Media, however, misinforms and tells people that Country is about to invade or cause WW3
4. This leads to heightened nationalism and support for war/military industrial complex
5. Country stops moving troops around
6. Media finds to other countries to fearmonger about.

Point in case. When the Crimea thing happened, there wasn't a huge military build-up, it just happened and took everyone by surprise. When you're going to invade somewhere, you don't signal it for weeks beforehand.

Yeah, they do. For example, last year there was a huge NATO exercise in Eastern Europe, right at the Russian border.

This is something normal that countries do.

The same thing with China and Taiwan. You might have noticed how a few months ago, the media was in a frenzy over China's supposed invasion of Taiwan, and nothing came out of that. Now the narrative has changed, and it's all about Russia and Ukraine, but in a few months ago, nothing will have happened, and the media will go back to fearmongering about China and Taiwan, and so on.

The media has us well-trained. They have people talking about whether we should intervene halfway across the world in hypothetical scenarios that will never happen, rather than questioning the veracity of their information.

This happens every few months, and nothing ever comes out of it.
