• minecraft
• don't starve together
• satisfactory

also I know RTS games against the AI or whatever can kind have this feel but I'm looking for something a little more longterm

the handmaid's tale that's getting removed is the graphic adpatation too

it's weird since you'd think if if was the general content/message of the story, they'd want to get rid of the actual book and not just the graphic novel version. but also the general tone of the list suggests to me that it's about more than just a few explicit pictures or whatever. maybe that's the only way they coul actually justify it

having a big pool of assorted situational dialogue quips that play for all sorts of things in the game is extremely cool imo. cool way to add personality to a character and just make space for jokes, subtle hinting / tutorials, etc etc without pausing the flow of the game at all

I haven't played god of war so I dunno how it worked out there but there's definitely a potential for the bad version of this, where the same dialogue line is repeated endlessly because either there aren't enough of them or the conitions to play it are some extremely normal thing that happens all the time. which I suspect could get extremely annoying

as someone else who also tried to take pictures of the eclipse, not particularly well I suspect

I took one before the eclipse, one partway, and one at the peak, and if you flip between them you can definitely tell it's different but none of the 3 pictures look particularly good at all

to expand on this: max level tooth is 100 health. max level acorn blocks 5 hits, and hades hits basically all deal more than 20 damage, so it adds up to more health even though it probably doesn't instinctively feel as impressive

like, running skelly's from the very start? it does literally nothing until your last death...

there are a few boons that are very strong and personally I find the best use of the trinkets is

act 1 - try to force a specific strong boon you like
act 2 - try to force a different specific strong boon or force something with synergy with what you got so far
act 3 - maybe coins, maybe charon's thing, maybe healing on pots, kinda whatever here
act 4 - broken spear if you're dying to the rooms, acorn if you're dying to the boss

honestly if you've made it to the last boss that much you should be able to just win on a good run. pick something with a ranged attack of some sort or build a strong cast and just camp him super hard. dash through the green rings as they expand instead of trying to run from them, bring the acorn

tips for the third boss: have a damage-dealing call of some sort and save it, when he calls just go all in attacking him without dodging at all + use your own call and you can potentially just kill him before he even finishes the cast animation (at the cost of a bit of health probably but it's worth it)

I never watched the movie but I read the book and I gotta say I don't understand how the movie ended up getting trashed on so hard. like, the book is full of recognizable characters and locales, wild action scenes, and is just generally silly and over the top all the time. it's not like the book is great or anything but it seems to me like it should be perfect for adapting into a brain-turned-off sort of movie

If I had to compare this to another series, it looks a lot like the more recent Sword Fart Online, just not quite as bad as its 8 bit color palette.

canadian here (just for some context to anecdotal stories)

in general I don't think it's super common for people to wear them this early in november, or in the later portion of november. but many people wear one the few days before and basically everyone wears one on the 11th if they leave their house (and even many people who don't leave). I don't remember ever hearing anyone get ragged on for not doing it, or getting visibly pressured into it, because everyone just kinda does it. I wonder if the popularity of it is in part because the poet was canadian, I dunno

I always kinda thought of the poppy as a symbol for (and rememberance for) the rank and file of the wars, so it's a little strange to me that someone would be particularly opposed to wearing it regardless of their stance on wars/conflict itself

I think its moreso that the vast majority of online interaction has consolidated around a handful of mega-sites, which ends up kind of homogenizing a lot of e-culture

this is the biggest single factor in the general feel of the web, imo. so basically the answer as to when everything changed is 2004-2005 with the creation of facebook, reddit, and youtube. or maybe say like 2007 if you want to leave a little bit of space for them to get established

megaman has always had problems with its open-ended stage ordering concept and this is just another aspect of that
