The extreme border for all of the Amazon facilities Im aware of is also similar at a maximum of about 60 miles.

This. Just because it was a stroke of good fortune that the supervisor's behavior may have inadvertently saved her life doesn't make the policy okay in a more general sense.

It's also why I'm not fully comfortable using this subject as an excuse to light the torch and brandish my pitchfork at Amazon. Tornadoes are among the most unpredictable forces of nature in existence, and while we can certainly learn from mistakes and do what we can to predict them, keeping yourself save during a regular tornado - let alone a once-in-a-lifetime monster like this one - usually just boils down to plain old luck.

In a car or truck: Vehicles are extremely risky in a tornado. There is no safe option when caught in a tornado in a car, just slightly less-dangerous ones. If the tornado is visible, far away, and the traffic is light, you may be able to drive out of its path by moving at right angles to the tornado. Seek shelter in a sturdy building, or underground if possible. If you are caught by extreme winds or flying debris, park the car as quickly and safely as possible -- out of the traffic lanes. Stay in the car with the seat belt on. Put your head down below the windows; cover your head with your hands and a blanket, coat, or other cushion if possible. If you can safely get noticeably lower than the level of the roadway,leave your car and lie in that area, covering your head with your hands. Avoid seeking shelter under bridges, which can create deadly traffic hazards while offering little protection against flying debris.

But for how long?

But if you could see the tornado heading to the warehouse you are heading to for shelter, why would you attempt to beat the tornado there?

1. You don't know the distance she was from the warehouse, you assume it is far because that fits your argument
2. weather.com says to DRIVE. It literally wants you to turn on the engine and DRIVE to find shelter. You are saying that is BAD advice despite being the one to give that link... smh

That potentially saved her life, especially considering the tornado was rain wrapped and could have driven right into it heading back.

well sure, but how is any of that going to connect to your phone? i've used one of those loyalty cards for shopping for years and never gotten a targeted ad on my phone from it, because its in no way connected to my phone. same with a credit card really. you might get mailers from them, and especially targeted emails now, but just using an MVP card at a grocery store isn't going to change google search on your phone without some extra level of fuckery going on.

An Amazon driver was told by her supervisor that she would lose her job if she stopped delivering packages, despite warnings of tornadoes in the area, according to a Bloomberg report.

The delivery driver told Bloomberg that her base was located in Edwardsville, Illinois the same location where six Amazon employees died after a tornado struck a warehouse last week.

Around 80 minutes before the tornado struck the warehouse, the driver sent a message seen and screenshot by Bloomberg to the supervisor saying, "radio's been going off."

The supervisor told her to "just keep delivering," adding that "we can't just call people back for a warning unless Amazon tells us to," according to the text messages cited by Bloomberg. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to Bloomberg the authenticity of the messages between the driver and the supervisor.

When the driver sent another message to her supervisor, around 30 minutes later, saying that she could hear tornado alarms, the supervisor replied to say she should continue with her deliveries, per the texts reported by Bloomberg.

The supervisor then sent another message, telling the driver to "shelter in place for now, I just got word from Amazon", per the texts seen by Bloomberg, before adding, "give it about 15-20 minutes and then continue as normal."
