Outgoing Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York has been without his dog Captain ever since moving out of the governor's mansion last week, Albany's Times Union reported.

Monday was Cuomo's last day in office. On August 10, he announced his resignation with two weeks' notice amid the fallout from accusations of sexual harassment from 11 women, whose accounts were corroborated in a 165-page report from New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Cuomo has been staying with one of his sisters ever since leaving the mansion in Albany, but staff at the residence were asked "if anyone would like to keep his dog," the Times Union reported.

Captain has "nipped a few people" at the mansion since being adopted in 2018. Two state-police sources who spoke with the Times Union said, "A mansion staffer recently took the dog home for a few days but decided he was too much."

Cuomo's spokesman Rich Azzopardi who recently described his boss as being "railroaded" in the sexual-harassment scandal told the Times Union the arrangement was "temporary" until Cuomo returned from a vacation he plans to take upon leaving office.

The two state-police sources talked to the paper on Saturday and said the Siberian-shepherd-malamute mix has continued roaming about the mansion.

In his last tweet from his official gubernatorial account on Monday night, Cuomo also poured cold water on the story and said Captain is still part of the family.

Disney has reached a deal with its unions to require all of its unionized employees working at Walt Disney World in Florida to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by October 22, 2021.

The move comes nearly a month after Disney mandated that all of its salaried and non-union hourly employees in the U.S. needed to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by the end of September.

No deal has been struck with unions on the west coast that cater to Disneyland Resort employees.

The Service Trades Council Union, which is comprised of six affiliate unions representing approximately 43,000 Disney cast members in Florida, said the company would host on-site vaccine events over the next few weeks for employees.

Vaccines are safe, effective, and free, the union said in a memo to members Monday, As of today, the Pfizer vaccine is FDA approved and is being offered by the company. Getting vaccinated is the best way for workers to protect themselves from this deadly virus.

On Monday, the Food and Drug Administration granted full approval to Pfizer and BioNTechs Covid-19 vaccine, becoming the first in the U.S. to win the coveted designation and giving even more businesses, schools and universities greater confidence to adopt vaccine mandates.

Up until now, the mRNA vaccine which will now be marketed as Comirnaty, was on the U.S. market under an emergency use authorization that was granted by the FDA in December.

Employees with medical conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs will be eligible for exemption, the union said.

Disney considers its employees fully vaccinated if they are at least two weeks past the completion of their vaccination, whether that be after the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or after a single shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Disney has updated its safety policies in accordance with local health regulations both domestically and internationally since the pandemic began. Most recently, the company began requiring proof of a Covid vaccination or a negative Covid test prior to entry at its Paris-based theme park based on French guidelines.

You're probably the only one taking them out and noticing this, yes.

The thing is I'm not even taking them out, it's just in most PS5 games the insert is "wavy" (like it doesn't actually fit properly or it's clinging to the clear plastic) whereas practically every PS4 game I have sits in the case flat.

E: Also it might just be because it's white but the "PS5" banner at the top also looks much worse than the PS4 one.

-The amount of signatures it takes to trigger a recall is hilariously low (only 12% of the total number of voters from the last election)
-Even knowing that, the signature-collecting process never would have succeeded if a judge hadn't decided they "deserved more time"
-Most of the money funding this came from outside the state and the people funding it were buried behind multiple layers
-Assuming the "Yes, recall" option gets more than 50% of the vote, the "winner" only needs to receive a plurality of the votes to become the next Governor
-The "Yes" vote can succeed but Newsom can still win said plurality

GM has announced that it is recalling every Chevrolet Bolt made to date, including new electric utility vehicle models, over concerns that a manufacturing defect in the cars' LG-made batteries could cause a fire.

The Bolt was first recalled in November after five cars that hadnt been in crashes caught fire. After investigating the problem further, Chevy recalled a second batch in July. The problem was traced to two manufacturing defects that could occur simultaneously. The defectsa torn anode tab and folded separatorcreated conditions that could lead to a short in affected cells. So far, the company has identified 10 fires that involve faulty batteries, according to an AP report.

This third and latest recall includes 73,000 Bolts made from 20192022, the current model year and brings the total recall to nearly 142,000 cars, with over 100,000 having been sold in the US. GM estimates that the initial recalls will cost $800 million, and it expects the new one to add $1 billion to the total. GM said it will be seeking reimbursement from LG.

To fix the problem, the automaker will replace the vehicles batteries, a costly and laborious procedure that will take some time. Until replacement batteries are ready and service appointments can be scheduled, GM has recommended that Bolt owners park their vehicles outside and limit their batterys state of charge to 90 percent or lower. The company also recommended not letting the estimated range dip below 70 miles. GM says it is working with LG Chem to ramp up production of the replacement cells.

Tracing the problem

The faulty batteries were traced initially to an LG Chem factory in Ochang, South Korea, and the companies thought the issue was contained to that plant. But a fire a few weeks ago in Chandler, Arizona, involving a 2019 Bolt led investigators to expand their scope, revealing that problems were also present in batteries that had been made at other LG factories.

GM and LG Chem are partners in a new multibillion-dollar joint venture to manufacture the Ultium batteries that will underpin a range of new electric vehicles from the Detroit automaker. The companies have announced two $2.3-billion battery factories in Ohio and Tennessee, with the first set to begin production next year.

GM initially partnered with LG Chem for its high-voltage batteries in 2008, when the automaker selected the company to supply packs for its Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid. At the time, it was widely believed that GM selected the Korean company because of its established track record in the relatively new field of lithium-ion batteries. It was likely the right choice given that one of the competitors for the contract, A123, suffered a black eye a few years later when its batteries were responsible for a string of bricked Fisker Karma plug-in hybrids.

But even LG Chems experience and manufacturing prowess have not immunized it against high-stakes errors. Batteries are hard, Greg Less, technical director of the University of Michigans Battery Lab, told me for another article. If they werent hard, everyone would be making them.

In recent years, battery manufacturers have struggled to balance the competing needs of cost, stability, and performance when developing new chemistries. Many lithium-ion batteries in cars use cobalt to maintain stability while charging and discharging. But cobalt is expensive, and most of it is found in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country known for its spotty human rights record and substandard mining conditions. Electrochemists have been working to reduce the amount of cobalt used, swapping it for nickel, which also has the benefit of boosting energy density. Unfortunately, high-nickel batteries are also more prone to fire.

Though neither GM nor LG has released specifics about the Bolts battery chemistry, its ingredients are thought to be NMC 622, or six parts nickel, two parts manganese, and two parts cobalt. Thats similar to what other automakers are using. There have been plenty of recalls recently as automakers work out the kinks in their battery supply chainsFord, Hyundai, and BMW have all announced recalls lately. So far, those recalls are smaller than GMs, and their causes range from manufacturing defects to potential software issues.

More fires?

Though EV fires garner high-profile headlines, its not clear whether EVs catch fire more frequently than internal combustion engine vehicles. Earlier this month, Tesla released a figure in a report claiming that fossil-fuel vehicles are 11 times more likely to catch fire than Teslas own cars (as measured by fires per billion miles traveled). On the other hand, 2019 data from the London Fire Brigade suggests that plug-in cars are more like to catch fire than ICE vehicles (0.1% vs. 0.04% of cars registered in the city).

As GM continues to invest in electrification, the company clearly understands that it has to move swiftly to rectify the problem. Were working with our supplier and manufacturing teams to determine how to best expedite battery capacity for module replacement under the recall, GM spokesman Dan Flores wrote to CNBC in the wake of last months recall. These teams are working around the clock on this issue.

The U.S. military will move to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for all service members now that the Pfizer vaccine has full approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Pentagons top spokesperson announced Monday.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is prepared to issue updated guidance requiring all service members to be vaccinated, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby told reporters.

These efforts ensure the safety of our service members and promote the readiness of our force, not to mention the health and safety of the communities around the country in which we live, he said.

A timeline for when service members must receive the shot will be provided in the coming days, Kirby added.

The Defense Department is preparing guidance to the force to make the vaccine mandatory, with a timeline to be provided in the coming days, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby told reporters.

Kirby would not comment on any plans to do the same for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines, saying that the focus right now is moving forward to implement a mandatory vaccination regimen for Pfizer."

The FDA earlier on Monday granted the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine full approval, a move thats expected to boost vaccinations and spark more mandates nationwide.

The decision comes as the Pentagon experienced its deadliest month yet in August, with five service member deaths reported between Aug. 11 and Aug. 18 and eight in the last three weeks, according to the Defense Departments latest numbers.

Prior to that, the department has reported one or two service member deaths monthly, with a high of four in November.

The military has reported 34 total deaths from COVID-19.

Austin earlier this month announced that he would seek the president's approval to add the coronavirus vaccine to the Pentagons list of required shots by mid-September, a decision that would apply to the nation's roughly 1.3 million service members.

The Pentagon has not previously required the COVID-19 vaccine for its personnel as it was under FDA emergency use authorization.

The U.S. military already requires 17 inoculations for its service members when they enter the military or before they deploy overseas, including for measles, mumps, diphtheria, hepatitis, smallpox and the flu.

What is a valid status card

A status card is valid if it is:

available
not past the renewal date (not applicable during COVID-19 pandemic)
not suspended or revoked
not reported lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed
not found and returned to Indigenous Services Canada (ISC)

Not to mention you have up to a year past the "Renew Before" date for it to still be considered a "renewal" under normal circumstances, and you don't lose Status simply because your card is past the renewal date and you haven't renewed it yet.

And why are you posting a picture of the old-style card from almost a decade ago when you're talking about one that would be in the new style based on the renew before date lol
