Buy a big game that may be lower-ranked that you highly recommend or means something special to you, or buy a bunch of cheaper games and bombard them with gifts.

I usually go with some combo of these two. I'm usually able to find a couple things that are cheap that are fairly high on the list that I also like!

with as little spoiling as possible, would this be okay as a first Matrix film to watch? I need to re-watch the original trilogy anyway, but do I need to do that before I see this one (and more importantly, will Wifebolo get much out of it if she hasn't seen any of em?) I got the vague impression that this was more of a reboot than a sequel, or something.

I feel like block is kinda useless because as I understand it people can get around it by just logging out, and the kinds of people I'd care enough to block instead of ignore are....the kinds of people who would do that

this also might be the first conversation we've had on the topic where I remember that "block" and "ignore" are two different things

That's not what I said, what I said was we're kinda tired of having this conversation (and might be a little shorter than normal with you as a result)

Still not seeing a difference between "don't be happy the bad guy is gone" and "be nice to the bad guy." Similarly, I would define myself as "defending" neopronoun users even though I am not one and don't even entirely understand what they're going for. Heck, I'm not even one of the people celebrating that dudebro is gone, either, and I am defending those people too!

man we tried for a while with the troll! I think you're overblowing how tragic it is that a dude who came to sealion and annoy people is no longer able to do so, and that those of us targeted can breathe a bit easier.

Or since you're talking about "you" and not the guy we're talking about, please keep in mind that you are coming in on the tail end of a very long conversation (this topic went for a while, and before that was the puns saga in the politics topic, and before that was like five more arguments about Dave Chappelle) and going to bat for the bad guy. (and yes, I would count "be nice to the troll :(" as "defending" him whether or not you are actually on his side) You are like dude #17 to step up for the feelings of the transphobes and we're a bit tired of it by now.

You have to be really careful to say you're celiac or have an allergy, usually multiple times. Otherwise people just think it's a preference to be gluten free (and many times they treat it that way anyway)

this is worth emphasizing! for some people it is a fad diet and for some people they will spend an hour on the toilet if their food looks at a speck of gluten, so please assume the latter just to be safe

overall it would've been better to just invent a new word.

I mean maybe but you can see how well that's going for the people who are trying! Also we did already have singular they for other reasons: "Somebody forgot their keys;" "if they order a burger, try to sell them a combo instead." With the knock-on effect of seeing less of that awkward "he or she" thing we were doing for a while.

Sure! I got better, though. Partially because I got backlash for it and re-evaluated (or at least kept it to myself until I got my head on straight)!

I would say refusing to use somebody's pronouns is a pretty dang crap move regardless, but the difference is in the expectation. Fewer people are on board with they/them or multiple options than he or she, and fewer-er people still are on board with fae and xir and stuff, so as you go down that scale there's less likelihood of blowback from bystanders, and less expectation from the people in question that others will get it right. (or try, or care, or refrain from actively mocking them) So it depends on how you're defining "offensive" (or "allowed," per the OP or that other guy)

do I think neopronouns are maybe a bit silly? yeah maybe, it's one of those things I don't really get but that just makes it not really my business
do I think trans people as a blanket might be taken less seriously as a result? yeah maybe, although I think a lot of the people who would do that weren't actually gonna take us seriously anyway
am I therefore willing to chuck those people under the bus in exchange for a bit less persecution? no

y'all can debate over who knows what's best for trans people I guess but I'd still rather take the hit by association even if y'all are right. Ohana means family, or something.

I hate this sentiment. Are people not allowed to care about saving the whales unless they are a whale?

I mean, just please make sure you're doing things for us that we actually want you to do for us? The majority opinion from the people you're "helping" here is "yeah we'd rather you not do that actually" and as I understand it that's similarly the majority (not unanimous, but majority) opinion of trans people in general. It's also kinda a sus angle to take when like two days ago you were trying to tone police us about things we DO want

Went from pretty into Disgaea RPG to dropping it pretty quick after the one-two punch of having a stereotypical trans villain for an event and also realizing the inventory system was not going to let me do what I wanted with my team (also I was burned out on video games in general at that time anyway!)

Been a few times where I have lost a chunk of progress from a death or something, and just thought "man do I really want to do that last part again?" and the answer was no.

Couple corrupted or accidentally deleted save files

But mostly I just drop games because either they aren't fun anymore or I have something else I want to play instead!
