(MK2 has some censorship issues on SNES, i.e. they black out Milena and Kitana's crotches when they are ducking. It was done on purpose but it is rarely talked about. Not to mention the blood, but there is a code for that).

Ultimately MK2 and SF2 are both bad compared to the arcade versions anyway.

Honestly tho, USA did not hurt for NES releases in 1987, 1988, 1989, or 1990. There was plenty to do and catch up on.

Honestly it's great the first time, but as you play it more the multiple exits are more of a drag than anything else.

SMB3 provides pure dopamine without boring shit like finding exits. The Inventory system is infinitely superior to going back to donut plains for a cape, or dinosaur island for a yoshi.

Genesis could process faster than the SNES. That's why the console suffered less slowdown. In every other department, SNES was more advanced.

It also had Mode 7 which allowed zoom-in and rotation visuals which couldn't be easily replicated on a Genesis. It was honestly pretty gimmicky for the most part, but there were times when it legitimately offered something Sega couldn't do -- like throwing Foot Soldiers toward the screen in Turtles in Time.

some misinformation. "common knowledge" says the SNES was better in every way besides processing but that's just not true. You'd think it was a big deal if you were comparing 2 monitors and one had 20% smaller resolution in one direction. And that's what the SNES did.

Genesis displays 320x224 as opposed to the SNES's 256x224.

The result was that companies developed for the Genesis and then ported to the SNES, because you couldn't do it the other way around without re-writing everything.

This also causes some games, like Earthworm Jim, to be stretched funny on the SNES.

It's much harder to compare consoles from that era. Genesis had a significantly faster CPU, so arcade games typically had much less slowdown. SNES had a better color palette (and could display more at a time) and a much better sound chip.

the sound chip is arguable if it's better tho. Midi was a standard and people could arrange/compose for it easily. The SNES was difficult so only big money made it sound good. Plus the SNES sounds "softer" than the Genesis.

the resolution is a big difference on games like Earthworm Jim.

All they do is compare games from both systems, but they also have wacky plots a la AVGN.

The genesis has a higher resolution, so most ports are better on that system anyway.

The biggest fault is the washed-out color palette, which looked better on CRT TVs. Emulators can brighten the palette very easily so this isn't an issue anymore either.

The 3 button controller didn't do anyone any favors, but the 6-button genesis is better than the snes by far (bumpers are hard to use in fighting games, and in general).

The genesis used a midi driver, which honestly sounds better than MOST of the SNES music. SNES compensates by having the best of the best OSTs (Final Fantasies, Chrono Trigger, other RPGs).

Mode 7 looks like absolute dogshit, and it always did. SNES gains nothing from this except some bad pixelated effects. Subtle use, like on the FF6 world map, is nice, but nothing used it well.
