You're right, she has been mooching for nearly 6 months. Actually 16 if you count all that time in the oven. Plus I had gone 32 years without ever being shit on and that streak has been reset twice since she came around. Time for her to move out.

However, Viv did impress me last week when I was holding her while I peed and she puked up a huge load of mucus and managed to hit the bowl perfectly. Only had to clean up a little off my arm!

Odie was psyched for the run on Saturday and had us cruising at a pace of 8:06/mile for 7 miles. Then he was begging for more so he went with my wife when she got out for a run too.

Yeah, the worst heat I have to deal with is maybe 80 in the early morning on our worst days of summer. I have run when it was something like -10 F, but cold is far easier to deal with than heat considering you can only take so much off to cool off, but I can always bundle up a bit more.

I could try running but most of the year is impossible to run in this state. I'd like to tell stories like that.

I did accidently take my niece's cat for a walk in early spring this year though.
Yeah, it helps that I'm in a fairly flat part of Michigan and I live in a neighborhood that if I hit absolutely every bit of road and cul-de-sacs I can eke out 6 miles without backtracking. That way I've got almost no car traffic to worry about and the only limiting factor is weather and my health.

Speaking of, my daughter is sick and has passed that along to me. I am not a fan of running in the cold with a cold, but I still think I can get it done.

113 to go.

I just stole a ring she would wear on the ring finger of her other hand and brought that with me. Amanda had already talked about what styles she liked and what type of metal too so I took that information with me and had a custom one built at a local jeweler instead of a big box one. Turned out super nice and she loved it.

The engagement itself was a debacle because she kept screwing up my plans that entire night, but I was already bound and determined to get on a knee and ask her no matter what. Worked out and now we've got a baby too.

Spoken like someone with little to no knowledge or experience with firearms. It's just a tool. A dangerous tool, but a tool nonetheless. It's all about the user. Just like a car. You can use it to drive to work, or you can ram it into a Xmas parade.
Once upon a time you could order a full-auto machine gun from a Sears catalog and have it shipped straight to your door. No paperwork, no background check, no questions asked. Guess what? Mass shootings were pretty well nonexistent at the time.
This kind of thing happens solely because of our fucked up modern society. The same vapid, narcissistic, social media driven world that everyone has embraced with a death grip. We churn out social outcasts like an assembly line, then act shocked and appalled when they lash out at the society that rejected them. We only have ourselves to blame, but no, it's clearly the guns. Much easier to lay the blame there, than to acknowledge the monsters we've created.
This argument falls apart when you leave the good old US of A. No other first world country has the amount of mass shootings we do and no other country has the access to weaponry that we do.

Actually addressing mental health would help significantly too, but the country also wants nothing to do with that apparently seeing as we don't really want anything close to affordable health care.

Oxford isn't far from where I live. I've got friends that graduated from that high school and it's so sad to see families have to go through this.

My wife is freaking out about our girls getting older and the threat of gun violence in school. While we both understand it's extremely unlikely to happen, it's impossible not to worry especially when this happens so close to home.

The worst part is knowing that this will continue to happen and nothing will ever change.

Destination is always the same, back home. I did look to see how far away from home my radius has taken me and it looks like I am nearly to Miami, Florida from where I'm at in Michigan.

I also had my dog Odie with me for nearly all of it. He went on a bit of a hiatus when my wife was home on maternity leave and he knew he'd get a couple walks a day with her. The butthead would refuse to come down with me in the morning so I had to run alone in the dark for a couple months.

Something feels a little weird in reaching out to her dad for her number, but you've got a better feel for if it's awkward than we do I guess. I personally wouldn't, but I also nearly didn't reach out when my sister told me there was someone she thought I'd like and I should ask her out. I said, "I'm not that desperate." Then I did reach out and now I married the woman my sister set me up with.

I started out the year a little slow and it does get hard to run in the winter between trying not to die on ice and having to come in early to plow the snow if it dumps enough on us. Once I started picking up the miles midway through the year I wondered if I would be able to get my monthly average up to 100 miles and I've gotten close enough I think I can do it if I push a bit during December and if the weather helps me so I don't have to come into work at 2 AM so I can get a 10k in before my normal start time at 5.

Factories are dangerous. My dad was an EMT in St. Louis back in the 80's before he was an ER doc and he had a horrific accident he had to respond to in a soap factory. In one of the vats a sheet of soap must have been caked onto the wall and went a worker stuck his head in to get a look so he could clean it out, the sheet dislodged, dropped down and sliced his head nearly in half. Shit can go wrong quick.

Then there's a number of things that have happened to people in the Lansing area in the Oldsmobile plant and other manufacturers. Mostly dismemberments that Dad had to deal with, but still awful.

As someone who actually currently lives in Houston you're full of complete shit. I lived in a nice 1 bed 1 bath apartment (860 sq ft close to the med center) for $1500 a month and still had plenty of money to enjoy my life and invest/save when I made 60k by myself. With my significant other we make a combined $130k and are doing what we want without worrying about money much.

I don't know if this lady has significant debt or loans or what her lifestyle is like, but 80k+ is certainly enough to live in a nice place in a safe area of Houston.
It's information like this that reminds me why I love not living in a city. Instead I've got a $2,200 mortgage for a house with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and an acre of land.

Now that I'm done bragging, I will say that even with rent at $1,500 and having money left to invest, that could easily be eaten into depending on what your student loan situation looks like and maybe the car payment is modest and not above your means. It could feel like you'd want a second job if you're hoping to visit your hometown back in Wisconsin more often like she said. Plane tickets aren't cheap and that'd be a hell of a drive to make on a regular basis.

Doesn't seem that outlandish to me to think about a second job in that situation.

I wish it were easier to get out and snowboard/ski during the winter. As it stands, it's expensive to get the equipment, expensive to get lift tickets, and I have to drive at least an hour to get to the nearest ski hill or 3 hours for a more improved experience.

Worth doing a few times a year, but I'd do it so much more often if things were closer, cheaper, and easier.

There's some stuff I know I can let slip for a bit so that gets lowest priority and I try and work through the more time sensitive stuff first.

my recollection was that it was the father and son chasing the victim. To what extent was the neighbor involved?
From what I remember the neighbor was the one that caught the murder on video. The father and son were already stopped in the middle of the road waiting for Ahmaud to make the turn in the road and the neighbor was trailing behind in a car with his phone recording.

I never heard what the explanation was for the neighbor following Ahmaud while already recording, but presumably he was involved with the other two men's plans to stop and "arrest" the jogger.
