I may agree with you in the first part, but only because they're good marketers and bringing in viewership. But as actually fighters, they purposely choose washed up guys or non-boxers and subject them to boxing rules. There's a reason they don't fight actually boxers even in their weight class and it doesn't even need to be the top boxers in their weight class.

But I do agree, they get big names that people know even if those big names aren't actual boxers, so people tune in. They're youtubers and know how to draw an audience, but I never want to here them mentioned as "best fighters of our generation" like some people are saying. If they really want that title, then fight actual active boxers.

I agree. And perhaps it's a long-term cyclical thing. Maybe it needs this "celebrity boxing" fad for 5-10 years to rebuild grassroots interest. And then we get a new crop of really good boxers, and rejuvenate the sport, now with the established young fanbase. The thing about the Paul brothers, is it isn't a gimmick, at least not anymore. They are serious trainers, They're both 6'/180lb dudes which is a really fun weight class to watch, and they're putting major effort into this -- it isn't just some part-time venture to make money.

Look at each of their hands. Paul keeps his steady, he isn't as wild with them. Woodley is moving his up and down, getting crazy with them. Paul caught on to this and timed his right hook PERFECTLY to tag Woodley when he lowered his left hand. That's not an amateur technique.
