His story doesn't happen in a vacuum within the MCU, nor did it happen in a vacuum in Marvel comics. Disney wasn't advertising any of that beforehand. Seems like a lot of people were excited about it as well, looking at the opening weekend numbers. Yeah, those opening weekend numbers came AFTER the movie had opened. BEFORE the movie had opened going all the way back to when it was first announced, several people were predicting a huge flop. Including Disney, going by how little they were advertising it. No, I said that reports from before the release date of the movie has been nothing but doom and gloom for the movie with even Disney not showing an interest in promoting it as much as their other movies. Shang Chi isn't a completely new character, but he is so obscure even to Marvel comic fans, that he may as well be a completely new character to movie fans. --- "Well, it's not a bad game.
