Meanwhile, the only thing that komes to mind for Germany is good beer. I hate beer. Alcohol in general, really.

I love Japan, before the pandemic I'd visit almost every year and have a lot of friends there. However, I grew up and live in Switzerland, spent almost all my life here. Naturally I'd choose Germany just because it's closer to home and I could visit my friends and family whenever I want. Japan is just too damn far away from everything.

When I was a kid my dad told me a story how initially Allah had planned for there to be many more prayers than just 5 times a day, but at the behest of one of the prophet's pleading he acquiesced. Doubt that story is in any official Islamic literature, probably just a tale he heard as a kid, but it was still interesting

When I was in Germany I never saw a cashier slice your bread for you.

That seems...weird. Like you're a small child asking your mutter.

Either buy a loaf of sliced bread or buy a generic loaf and slice it yourself at home.

In fairness, I don't really understand the idea behind buying presliced bread at the store. Like if it's some gross chemically treated softbread you make toast out of, fine, but if it's just my general eating bread for the week or half week to come, I'd rather slice it myself when the need arises and prevent as much as possible hardening of the innards.

This confuses the fuck out of me because if you go to mainland Europe they hardly slice bread at all.

You just by big loafs in Germany or France.

Are stuff like this not normal in Amerika?

Huh, automatic bread slicer. That's neat. I assumed from the topic title they would be doing it by hand using some tool.

I also would have expected there to be some sort of paper you're supposed to use to handle the bread. That's how most baked goods places are around here.
