periodically i make a bunch of bread dough, rip it into loaf/pizza crust portions, smash it flat in separate bags, and freeze it. i've found it works really well if you use extra yeast and dont give it time to bulk proof, means the yeast doesn't play out before you freeze it and the dough will rise nicely later on. if i know i'll need a portion i pop it in the fridge for at least 24 hours before using it.

i dont do pizza peels though. i fucked up with one years ago and never want to deal with that mess again. i get a good enough pizza on a pan, and if i want perfect crust i make a deep dish in a cast iron pan.

Good idea, I'll try that with more yeast. I also make batches of frozen dough but the rise is noticeably weaker when frozen.

Made them for my wife, 2 girls (3 and 1 yr old) and myself.

70% dough hydration. Made the dough last night in 10 mins with 4 ingredients: white flour, salt, yeast, water. Toppings: Tomato sauce, salt, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, basil, drizzle of olive oil for the Margherita. The others have Spanish spicy chorizo, rocket salad, and fresh parmesan.

This is literally the easiest and cheapest food to make (the Margherita costs about 70 cents). A stone and peel is highly recommended and is only about $30 combined. It's our favorite comfort food. I highly recommend it for people who haven't made pizza before!

It obviously depends where in California you're living that warrants such a price. I live in Zurich Switzerland and bought my condo for a little less than $1 million for 1.3k square feet.

It's considered an incredibly good deal here and the value has increased to about 1.25 million in just 4 years. I downpaid about 27% and am paying 1% interest on the loan. With utility fees, and all additional costs, I'm paying about $1400 a month for an apartment that would cost about $3500 if it was to be rented.

So to everyone bashing TC about spending "so much" (relatively speaking) for such a small space: There are a bunch of other things that factor into the calculation, most importantly your monthly bill vs. renting and possible value increase.

What are interest rates like in California? I don't know much about real estate in the US but I hear property tax is fucking bonkers. Here in Switzerland property tax is a negligible amount, and there are so many deductions you can get by owning real estate, that property tax is in effect non existent.

While I can appreciate a nice Swiss watch, I can't justify spending that much scratch on one.

I have a couple Tissots (a Visodate and Seastar) that are both < $1,000 and offer a lot of watch for the money. The Seastar for example has a stainless steel case, sapphire glass, double-sided AR coating, Super Luminova, screw down crown/pushers, unidirectional rotating bezel (necessary as a diver), and has a WR of 300m or 1,000ft. I also like the pretty blue gradient dial and engraved seahorse on the caseback.

In the past, I saw myself looking at grabbing a Seamaster or even something from Oris but then when it comes time for me to pay, I ask myself "what the hell am I doing?" I just...I just can't do it. Too much scratch for very little return.

Dude those watches you mentioned are fantastic. The visodate has an amazing movement inside it. The Rolex is a more expensive in scale but the idea is actually similar. If you like the Seamaster (it's easily one of the best watches for its price), no hurry to buy it now. When you have enough disposable money and are ready to purchase it (don't be shy to negotiate at an AD!) just know that you won't lose a lot of money at all when buying it at the right price. Second hand is a great way to go too, as you can easily buy it wel below market value when finding good deals.

was looking at the pics of the mustard, and it's actually really nice in pics. issue for me is im asian and have yellowish undertones to my skin. hell, all the colors look good, even the orange and pink (but pink i wouldn't ever wear as it's the only one i find distinguishedly feminine)

Perfect, then you're doing the same thing I did. The BB58 is a great watch that really feels like a "luxury beater" if that makes sense. It's actually pretty inexpensive for what you're getting and will help you get harder to get models. You definitely don't need to spend 30-40k to get on the list for professional steel models. You essentially need to show the AD you're not a flipper, but an enthusiast who's also willing to look at other brands (like Tudor). Best thing to do is go by when you're ready to purchase the Tudor, and put yourself on the list for the OP right after paying. Keep paying them visits when you're in the area. They will remember you and you'll most likely get your OP before the end of the year.

I tried the mustard on and I immediately fell in love. The lacquer colors looks so amazing compared to a sunburst dial you typically see with colors on certain Rolex models. I didn't like any of the new OPs with the funky colors until I saw them live. Now I think all of the colors look awesome.

It's pretty simple actually: When supply is lower than demand, this is the natural outcome. The Porsche 911 is a similar situation, or certain Ferraris. Currently with Rolex the demand is extremely high, and the (relatively) low supply is driving the demand even higher.

AR coating has been an issue with me too, I'm personally not a fan since the AR coating scratches and smudges quite easily. The point of a sapphire crystal is that it doesn't scratch, so having AR coating on the outside that scratches and smudges defeats the purpose of a sapphire crystal.

Yes, the new models actually have AR coating on the inside of the crystalwhich is a great compromise. No scratching and smudging, and barely any reflection. Overall I am really digging the way the crystal looks compared to my watches that have AR coating on the inside and outside, or no AR coating at all.

Its beautiful. First No_U makes a topic about Rolex and now you. Maybe I should find one that I like and get put on a wait list. What would you recommend for a first Rolex? I love the color green but Im more of a basic watch kinda guy.

I just made a long post on his topic on how to handle waitlists when it comes to Rolex, check that post out, it might help you.

For a first Rolex the new Oyster Perpetuals in 41mm are fantastic, costing around 6k. It's also the model that No_U's topic was about. They are no-date watches, so you have a simple, symmetrical, uncluttered design. These are literally watches for pretty much every occasion. Robust, great proportions, weather resistant with the steel bracelet, and 100m water resistance with a screw down crown. It's the perfect Rolex in my opinion, and also the most affordable. The good thing about the Oyster Perpetual is you can actually get them with a bit of patience since they aren't under the "professional" line of Rolex models which are typically quite hard to get.

And you didn't have to bribe them? Better give no_lu the contact of thst AD.

I just wrote in his topic. Might not apply to his AD, but going by personally is a must if you want to buy a desirable Rolex model at list price.

Bribes won't work because whatever amount you're bribing the AD with is not worth them risking the right to call themselves a Rolex AD. Most ADs that lose Rolex shut down almost immediately after because their AD is riding on the Rolex brand. They sell other brands too of course but the fact is, a huge percentage of people walk into that AD because they see the Rolex logo on the storefront. So yeah, whatever amount you want to bribe them with should be spent on buying that model on the gray market instead.

Saw this topic a bit late but I will chime in as I (as you saw in my topic) just bought a hard to get, desirable model hours ago with barely any purchase history. I spent about $10k on the new Kermit Submariner, which is worth a little less than double its retail price in market value.

Calling an AD and expecting them to put you on the waitlist is a waste of time. If you can't make the effort to go by physically and show interest, you might as well not even try. I know this sounds ridiculous to most, but you have to show the AD you're an enthusiast and not a flipper. With such limited supply and such high demand this is the game you have to play. The AD is ordered by Rolex to do everything they can to prevent their watches ending up on the grey market for markups, so it's the ADs job to identify clients who they think won't flip the watch. So inquiries via phone which anyone can do from the comfort of their home in 2 minutes are all ignored.

When a new model comes out that you're interested in, go to the AD as soon as you can and put yourself on the list, and try to forget about the watch. It costs nothing to be on the list (I'm not aware of any Rolex AD that takes down payments) so don't be shy about putting yourself on the list for desirable models, you can always decline and they will ask the next person.

Whenever you're in the area, pay the AD a visit, ask about other watches, talk to the salesperson, and express your excitement over the watch you're waiting for. This is personal but I love visiting ADs to try out new models. The salespeople have almost always been gracious and fun to talk to. From my own and friends of mine's experience, the arrogant salespeople are also the least knowledgeable. You should take them less seriously than they take you. Every AD or boutique manager will tell the salespeople to be humble and respectful. Rich people come in all shapes, colors, sizes, wearing all kinds of clothes. Young customers who you don't expect to have money to buy a watch should be treated particularly well as the good impression you give them will make them future clients.

The only other watch I bought from this particular AD was a Tudor Black Bay 58 3 months ago that costed less than $4k and also trades slightly above retail so no money lost buying that one. I visited again last Friday for an event hosted by the AD in question where salespeople from the brands themselves would showcase their new watches. These salespeople came from the brand HQs in Switzerland, where the AD in question is also located. I had a meeting with Tudor and Panerai to see their new watches. It costed nothing, you get food, drinks, and great overall service. Note: Even if I had never purchased anything with them, this event was open to anyone who was interested.

I'm also on the waiting list for the mustard color Oyster Perpetual in 41mm and the turquoise Oyster Perpetual in 36mm for my sister. They told me today when I bought my Submariner that it'd likely be 2-3 more months to get them. I'm also on the waiting list for the 126710BLRO "Pepsi" GMT and the Rolex Daytona. The Pepsi will probably be ready in 1-2 years and the Daytona maybe in 3-4 years. I put myself on the waiting list for the Daytona in 2018. So yes, while 5+ years sounds ridiculous, but the time does go by, and putting yourself on the list has no obligations and costs nothing. Like I said, put yourself on, forget about the watch, and when you get the call, assuming you have the money, decide if you want to buy it or leave it. Although I would never decline a professional Rolex steel model because essentially the AD is giving you free money by giving you the watch. Example: A steel Daytona retails for around $11k, market value is $30k+. A Pepsi retails for $9.5k, market value is about $25k.

The model I got was released in September, and I got it this month, so 9 months. People will pay $9k over retail for the model I got, which is fucking stupid no doubt, but hey, demand is so high, and if that's what people want to pay, then that's on them.
