It's easy. Just don't try to level up as your primary way to get stronger, because the enemies level up with you. Most of your power comes from junctioning magic spells to different stats. If you play the card minigame, you can convert cards into magic spells. You can get some pretty powerful stuff this way.

most underrated Miyazaki film would arguably be Grave of the Fireflies.

Grave of the Fireflies is not underrated. It's one of the most famous war movies ever made! And it's not Miyazaki. Takahata directed that one.

Only Yesterday, though, really is underrated. I also like Ocean Waves; although it's nothing spectacular, it's got a nice vibe.

Hey, I think I've seen some of these stickers! Seems like a good idea to me tbh. Tons of places in NYC are intentionally named to bolster the reputation of (often scummy) family dynasties. To the average person, the name goes unquestioned, but it's like subliminal messaging that gets in your head anyway. It happened in the past and it's still happening today. Next they need to throw some stickers on the David Koch Theater.

No political expression? Okay so no athletes can put their hand over their heart or stand for the anthem or sing along, etc., etc., because all of that stuff is blatantly political. In fact, the Olympics itself is so political that merely by having athletes represent different nations, political statements are already being made (this country has more gold medals than that country, and is therefore "better", and so on and so forth). So the only real choice is to cancel the Olympics! I'm sure that will make the Republicans happy.

Connecticut has some amazing pizza. I feel like it flies under the radar on a pop culture level, but people in New England, including people in NY, know it's up there with the greats. I wouldn't say any single type of pizza is the "best," since it kinda depends on whatever mood you're in at the time, but I do love good NY pizza. Bad NY pizza, however, can be fairly underwhelming.

Do you know the theological reasons? I am kind of friends with one Mormon, well maybe more just acquaintances, but I always feel on guard around this dude, even though he's very nice. But it's like... saccharine. So sweet that it ends up seeming fake somehow. Very hard to pinpoint. And it also feels different than the "nice to your face, mean behind your back" attitude. That's easier for me to figure out.

Tinder for instance is just a massive headache compared to the old craigslist.

Yeah, it's kinda sad how people seem to be losing touch with the older stuff. In large part because of things like Harry Potter, which take the ideas and hollow them out. I sort of think of fairies as being a natural force in the universe, almost like gravity, except conscious. If people are living harmoniously with nature, the fairies might do a little something nice, like clean out your fireplace, just a tiny little something to brighten your day. But if you mistreat them, they'll literally rip apart the fabric of reality to put you back in your place.

Actually, the more I think about it, the worse it feels that Rowling took this message and basically turned it inside-out with the house elves. From anti-slavery to pro-slavery. And Harry Potter is so popular, this is the idea that's subconsciously spreading. Not very good.

This is just another example of her uncritically lifting a concept from folklore. Or maybe not even "uncritically" so much as not even understanding the original concept. Even the name "Dobby" references a type of fairy, kind of like a brownie, that would do chores for people around the house. And these fairies would often work for free, and if you tried to pay them, they'd sometimes disappear forever, or lash out against you, or curse you, etc. But the idea isn't that you're keeping them as workers. They're part of nature, and they're operating with their own alien motives, doing their own thing, trying to keep the world in order. Having them around was potentially hazardous if you didn't treat them with respect, or do weird little rituals for them, or obey seemingly nonsensical rules that they would dictate you had to follow. Yallery Brown is one example of where relying on a fairy servant backfired enormously.

Basically, even though these fairies can be beneficial, they also come and go as they please, and set their own terms. And you'd better adhere to their terms, not the other way around. And when it comes to actually employing them as servants, or even literally enslaving them, there's a ton of folklore about that as well, and it basically 100% blows up in the person's face. You'd have wizards attempting to keep fairies to do their bidding. And sometimes it would work for a while. But the relationship was corrupt at the core, and if those fairies ever got free, they'd destroy their masters. But the idea wasn't "don't let them get free." The idea was "don't try to enslave them in the first place, because you're committing a crime against nature by doing that, and you will fail and they will administer unmerciful justice, which you will deserve."

I could go on and on. There are so many legends and stories about this stuff, with so many nuances. But for Harry Potter, essentially Rowling just scratched a bit off the surface and plopped it into the story, with unsavory results. "Fairy servants! Let's have those!" She's basically perpetuating the culture of British boarding schools and manor houses, and all their nasty history, with a superficial fantasy veil draped over it. And of course those institutions had servants who would snap to attention to serve their wealthy masters, as it was "proper" they should.

Personally, my opinion on onions is i use them as the "zero point" on a theoretical vegetable rating system. Meaning i judge all vegetables by saying, instead of on a scale of 0 to 10, I say on a scale of onion to 10.

In other words, one of the worst pieces of matter you could possibly put in your mouth as a sentient entity on the planet Earth. They literally taste like poison that will kill you. Im being gaslit on the matter of onions on a mass, Twilight Zone level scale.

Says the man who lives primarily on canned fish!

Onions are amazing. They can work with practically anything. They are dirt cheap. They preserve very well. I guess the really "spicy" ones can taste "poisonous" if they're uncooked, since those can have a strong shocking flavor, but that's like... only if you're biting into a big chunk, which people don't usually do. Mince them up and simmer them in sauces or caramelize them and they're great. Fried onion rings? C'mon, they're great!
