Do you agree?

Onion is fantastic. It can be fried, grilled, baked, sauted or even kept raw. It tastes good on its own and it can enhance the flavor of an insane amount of dishes. It is crazy versatile and is an S tier vegetable for sure

Edit: along with a couple of garlic heads.

Did you know

In the Age of Discovery, onions were taken to North America by the first European settlers, only to discover the plant readily available, and in wide use in Native American-gastronomy. According to diaries kept by certain of the first English colonists, the bulb onion was one of the first crops planted by the Pilgrim fathers.

I didnt know that, the more you know

Its the Cajun/Louisiana variant of the mirepoix! Carrots are also S-tier veggies though so the two versions happily coexist.

@TheOnionKnight

Personally, my opinion on onions is i use them as the "zero point" on a theoretical vegetable rating system. Meaning i judge all vegetables by saying, instead of on a scale of 0 to 10, I say on a scale of onion to 10.

In other words, one of the worst pieces of matter you could possibly put in your mouth as a sentient entity on the planet Earth. They literally taste like poison that will kill you. Im being gaslit on the matter of onions on a mass, Twilight Zone level scale.

not only does it taste great, it almost never rots

I used to dislike onions a few years ago and I decided I'd force myself to get accustomed to the taste, now I really enjoy em, people who dislike the taste of some health food should force themselves to get used to it imo

Says the man who lives primarily on canned fish!

Onions are amazing. They can work with practically anything. They are dirt cheap. They preserve very well. I guess the really "spicy" ones can taste "poisonous" if they're uncooked, since those can have a strong shocking flavor, but that's like... only if you're biting into a big chunk, which people don't usually do. Mince them up and simmer them in sauces or caramelize them and they're great. Fried onion rings? C'mon, they're great!
