You're on the right track, there are specific places to use dead peppers. They'll have distinct marks. For instance if you keep running around the Forgotten Continent, you might notice the spots to try it.

The person who leaked the script had previously posted their impressions about it that lined up with some stuff we later learned (like that pic with them in their old costumes was just for a flashback, or that Mojo Jojo had a human son). They only decided to post the whole thing after the news broke that it was being retooled (meaning the current script would be tossed out, so it didn't matter if it was released or not).

There's a cool cutscene here of the incredibly quick one sided invasion, featuring an unnamed Eidolon that sucks up the Industrial District and everyone else with it. I'm trying to think of what past summon this could be. Cuchulainn? Pandemona? Perhaps something I'm forgetting. IIRC the only game before this one to use the term Eidolon is IV, maybe something from there.

First time it's been a summon, but it's something you've fought as a boss in FFV.

You didn't have to! You could give a unit some ludicrous buffs for a single battle at the cost of sacrificing them at the battle's end but it was optional to do that!

It played into the multiple endings. You'd get shifted onto different routes depending on how much you abused that ability. The "best" ending was to not sacrifice anyone (unless maybe there was a forced one as a tutorial I forget)

I feel like there must've been a forced sacrifice, because I probably wouldn't have stopped if I hadn't had to do it. And I guess that made me think it was something I'd have to do throughout the game. Oh well.

Owned or "owned" but only played a little:
Monster Hunter - bought one for PSP when GameCrazy went out of business and was selling their inventory for cheap. Didn't really care for it. Have tried other demos since and still did not care for it.
SaGa - I owned Final Fantasy Legends III, which I guess counts? I barely remember it and know I didn't play much. I also played the demos of the spiritual successors on 3DS, but never got around to buying them outright.
Chrono - Had the DS Trigger remake, not sure how far I got, but probably not halfway. Just couldn't hold my interest.
The Legend of Heroes - Bought Sky FC, but got burned out trying to read all the NPC dialogue, lmao. I should get back to it, but ehh.
Valkyrie Profile - I had something on DS, but stopped playing quickly when I learned I had to sacrifice my units to power up other units or something? Something about that turned me off, I like to keep everyone alive, not sacrifice them. :(

Tried a demo:
Etrian Odyssey - Tried the EO4 demo, and it was okay, but never got around to buying any of them.
