But the very nature of his existence is something that needs to be accounted for, if your goal is to build a coherent universe. The Emperor doesn't need this treatment; if you establish there's an empire, there has to be someone at the head. That's just a natural consequence of the world you've built. But once you start adding history to an established setting, you need to explain what's going on. Who is the person who rose to power over the imperial remnant, and how did he do it? That's an interesting question, even if you don't want it to draw focus. If you make him super old, make him strong in the force, and give him a bunch of lines about witnessing the rise and fall of the empire, it really does provoke the question of why he didn't insert himself into the galactic situation before, and why he's chosen to now. | marthsheretoo 03/22/21 2:41:30 AM #20 | I like the simplicity of 5e for the most part, but every so often something gets too oversimplified and I get annoyed it's not 3.5 even though it feels like an improvement the rest of the time. Especially the overabundance of advantage/disadvantage; I was once attacking someone who was blind and prone. So... rolling with advantage. And as a barbarian, I had reckless attacks. If I'd used it, it would have given me nothing but it would have meant my blind, prone opponent got to roll normally against me. Of course, their attack bonus was high enough that even with disadvantage they were overwhelmingly likely to hit. Just feels limiting. Also skills like perform being lumped together feels odd. I can't have a good singer without also having a good dancer, etc. But my biggest complaint is the death system. It's way too easy to stave off death with enemies playing wack-a-mole. That's definitely a sock in the mouth to whatever party Logan was part of. (I've noticed they don't call themselves GOP or Dems, so I'm guessing that's by choice.) It's not outright confirmed, but since David Palmer was a Democrat and was going against Keeler for reelection, and Logan was Keeler's VP, it can be assumed that Logan was Republican.
