Because they haven't experienced most of the game? Like, they can definitely write a little bit about it (probably mostly centering on it being harder than it looks lol) but if they can't progress very far into the game I think it's hard for them to really have significant opinions about it

They should be. Especially if they're reviewing them. If they can't play games, how can they fairly judge them and critique them?

It's like a Movie Critic should know at least a good bit about movies and movie making. Or an art critic should know about art.
