I vividly remember the 1 of 2 times in my life that I was bullied. 8th grade, these 3 dudes randomly tried to jump me on a week long field trip out in the woods. I had the advantage of being uphill, they were coming uphill towards me. They ran towards me one infront of the other. When the first guy approached, I kicked him in the stomach so hard that he was down and out rolling around on the ground. The next guy came and I punched him in the nose and he got down on the ground holding his face. The next dude just backed off. A teacher came a few min later as I was walking away, he was like, what happened? I was like, uhh nothing, and I just kept walking away. He was like, okay I didn't see anything, and he turned around and walked away. Pretty satisfying story. They never even looked at me again for the rest of middleschool and HS.

Theres just so few things to do and so little variety in whatever you need that if you were to start a new business of any kind, it would flourish. Lately theres been some new restaurants and bars, people are flocking to these places. They are tired of the same shit over and over. This coffee shop just opened up, it's average but they market themselves well. Their drive through is always packed.

Just observational but people seem to spend way more money in the south than in liberal states. I dont know what it is.

And starting a business here can't be expensive. Property is cheap. Theres plenty of people to hire.

Maybe in the future if I have money, I might come back and open up some random niche restaurants.

I get the bill monthyl even though its auto pay, so I dont actually open the letter to read it. I've had everything on autopay for a year and a half now. Water, electric, gas, sewage, cable.

I had my bills on auto-pay, never even pay attention to it tbh. But apparently my water bill hasn't been paid in like 6 months. I haven't changed my card or anything. And if i review my history, every month it was getting paid up until december and it just randomly stop getting paid.

And I didn't realize til after 5pm. Now I gotta call em first thing in the morning. Hopefully they turn it on same day. I have water but I need to shower and take a shit tomorrow.

You're taxed when you earn money, again when you spend it, and sometimes repeatedly and forever on what you bought.

You can choose to deduce sales taxes or state income tax. So technically you would only get taxed twice max. But you can also choose not to spend money, so you have the option to not pay sales tax.

But the concept is, you see that money, then you're taxed on x amount that you use to buy something. In my example, you never see the money in the first place.

If the federal government wants more money than raise the income tax rate for each bracket. Raise the higher income tax brackets. That would be fair and consistent. Capping SALT just fucks people in liberal states. Thats the unfair part.

After reading so many low quality replies, I now am starting to understand how that is such an impossible concept for people to grasp.

As-is, the "reward" for a state spending relatively-high taxes on more services should be "this state has more services!" not a back-door federal subsidy.

Well SALT serves the purpose of avoiding double taxation which is inherently wrong. The problem is, its in place for low income people but not moderate to high income people. So if you make a low income, you can write off those state income and property taxes off to lower your federal tax bill. But if you make a moderate amount of income you can't, so you get taxed twice.

Its the same tax bill either way for the person. its just a matter of do you want more money going to the state or federal government. I'd prefer the state. I just feel more confident that state tax dollars actually go towards helping its citizens. And these days states are so different and have vastly different needs.

Hmm, if they had a state AGI, wouldn't that actually end up being higher. Since the AGI is gross income minus federal deductions, any kind of state based AGI would actually be higher wouldn't it?

what i'm arguing is "federal AGI" as you call it should be AGI minus state taxes paid. Since that money is going straight to taxes, I dont actually see it, so why should I get taxed on it. Make sense? As per my example, if I make $100k, pay $x in state taxes, my federal taxes should be calculated based on 100k minus x, because thats how much money I'm actually seeing, rather than 100k alone. These guys are losing their minds over specific numbers when I said its a theoretical example with made up numbers, intended to get the concept across. Again, simpletons dont have that capability and are just losing their shits over the actual numbers. Its pretty comical if you think about it. Thats why these guys are and will always be in the low socioeconomic classes.

SALT cap also hurts property value, people are less willing to spend money and thus all property values go down.

Not to mention its essentially double taxation. Theoretical numbers, if I make 100k, lets say I pay 30% of that to the federal government and 10% of that to the state government. If 10k of that is going to the state government, then shouldn't the government only tax me on the rest of the 90k? I'm getting taxed twice on that 10k and thats money I never even see. Same goes vice versa. And what does that money fund? It funds state programs so the federal government doesn't have to.

All of this just makes logical sense. But I guess low socioeconomic classes are associated with low IQs.

Again, no one has acknowledged the state to state inequality in who is getting screwed.

And if this is the sentiment of the lower classes, that they don't care how things work or if things are fair, they just want things that benefit them and oppose things that benefit those well off.
