and our neeeewww SMFAS Champion, and the oldest series to win it all is Legend of the Galactic Heroes!

Though the results may not indicate it, this could be considered an upset in that Legend of the Galactic Heroes won the whole damn thing.
I've often maintained that within what it was trying to achieve, LotGH is basically a perfect show.
It's made deep runs in the past and by being so different from the rest of the contenders it was able over the years to get a steady drip of new users to check it out and find out that it really was a quality show.

It beats in My Hero Academia a great Weekly Shounen Jump series which has evolved from early comparisons to Naruto but with a green outfit to something that now stands out on its own. I'd say it's def worth checking out for anyone who enjoys battle series.

Yeah but those teams went in with higher expectations because of what they'd already achieved in European Cup competitions.

This side has talent but it's on not like going into a tournament with Seedorf/Davids/Bergkamp/Cocu/Stam/Van De Sar /Kluivert or Sneijder/Robben/Van Persie.

Like it sucks for sure, but this wasn't the side that had them thinking yeah we're breaking the curse.

Took me years to clear LotGH, though weirdly, I didn't need a refresher when watching after breaks.
I did however keep a wiki to follow just ep by ep because I sometimes had to try and keep track of which names were involved in which location.

Yeah that slow pace really works in its favour, you need to get familiar with the characters at all levels from the leaders to the grunts. Then when you get into the world building, the history, the political maneuvering it all really comes together.

Yeah that show's docu style presentation of some events gives it an added level of realism.
It does replicate a lot of the futile parts of WW1 of generals just moving large swathes of troops one way and then another just to make small gains that can easily be lost.

Not too fussed if England drop the ball this year.
I reckon the young talent might be more ready for the World Cup.
They have tons of CL winners, EPL winners and experience in high pressure situations.
It's a deep squad talent wise and these guys aren't the ones who missed penalties or lost in dramatic fashion.
Clean slate for the lot, most are approaching their peak and guys like Kane won't exit their prime when the WC starts.
If they beat Germany but lose to Sweden though, then I'd be worried.
