What fraction of that $14/hr is eaten away by the cost of commuting (remember to add some value in for wear on the car in addition to fuel expenses)? Do you have an alternate job/prospect that's closer to you? How much closer and how much less does it pay? Can you live comfortably on that? Can you live comfortably on $14/hr?

If the costs of the commute exceed the difference in pay then obviously it's not worthwhile. If it's close it's probably not worthwhile. If the $14/hr is a significant raise even after accounting for commuting costs, it might be worth doing. That's especially true if you can get a decent amount of enjoyment from your drive (maybe you love audiobooks?). On the flipside, if the commute is going to be highly stressful every day then it's probably not worth doing even if it's a substantial raise unless you need that extra income to get by, in which case take the job but continue looking for something closer.

I meant just slapping cream cheese on a bowl of rice. I agree a casserole could easily work.

Cream cheese on rice sounds like a texture disaster, plus I'm not sure rice has a strong enough flavor to balance.
