piracy is theft of intellectual property without permission or right. there's not really room for debate there. your only real next step is to argue that "intellectual property" is an antiquated concept and should be abolished.

The key difference is in the word "take". Copying isn't taking anything away.

If my car gets stolen, I'd be pretty pissed. If someone builds an exact replica of my car without touching the original, I'd be fine with that.

Out of all the times a human has been shot from a civilian-owned gun, what percentage of that was to prevent crimes or further harm? Versus the amount of people shot for being victims of crimes, because of suicides, or unintentional discharge, or being bystanders of people misfiring or bullet ricochet, etc.

I'm not even being facetious, I'm genuinely wondering if there are any statistics for this. Because I really think the good guy with a gun scenario isn't all that prevalent.

Here's a whole article if you're actually curious
https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/zack-snyder-justice-league-4-3-aspect-ratio/

"Superheroes tend to be, as figures, they tend to be less horizontal. Maybe Superman when hes flying, but when hes standing, hes more of a vertical."

Seriously, this is such a dumb thing to say. Any movie besides porn has its characters mostly vertical. There's nothing about superheroes that makes them more vertical. He even mentions an exception to this, a superhero who just so happens to be one of his main characters.

He could've just say "I like 4:3. It makes me feel nostalgic", and that would be perfectly fine. No need to make up such nonsense to explain yourself.

It's enough to consider obesity alone a major risk factor.
It is a risk factor, but it's still important to mention this as context. The part where the article mentions obesity in the overall population is just where TC cut it off. The stats without the context make it sound like Covid is mostly a fat people problem, which it isn't.

Of those who were admitted, 27.8% were overweight and 50.2% were obese, according to the CDC report.

So that's really not far off from the overall population of the US: 31.1% overweight, 42.5% obese.

Absolutely, 30 fps looks like it's stuttering when you're used to higher fps.

That said, 30fps can be acceptable in slow paced games if the trade-off is great visuals. Think turn based strategies or something. Anything with action in it is much more enjoyable with higher fps rates. I'd gladly sacrifice texture or shadow quality if that means you get a smooth experience.

No idea, I've never even played this game. I'm just surprised that a company that provides digital services doesn't keep their data on more than one location. Even if it's just weekly backups of the databases, I can't imagine that would take up a huge part of their server budget.

I can't say I'm surprised about the Nazis being hypocrites, but it's pretty shocking to see the fascist cut of yesteryear become the antifascist cut of today. I'm going to start referring to those as Jugend cuts. I'm not above drawing allusions to Hitler to shame people away from having a bad haircut.

<____<
I think you missed the point of what I was trying to say: it's pretty silly to link a hairstyle to either fascism or antifascism just because it's asymmetrical.

Fascists like order. When you get down to it, fascism is the notion of order taken to its extreme. ("Get in line or be removed!") Fascists dislike the abstract or the asymmetrical. They want things symmetrical because symmetry is order. When a woman cuts one side of her hair, but not the other, she is making a statement that she is outside their control. She is outside their order. In that regard, it is a noble act of defiance against a tyrannical movement.

The typical Hitler Jugend hairdo literally had shaved sides and hair combed to the side asymmetrically.

One dude crafted an entire storyline for himself where a new girl joined the forum. He started off antagonizing her but then later they'd make up and fall in love. They'd get all lovey-dovey in public comments to the point where the other users got sick of them.

She never existed. It was all him and the mods and admins were aware of this from the start.

I don't believe we've ever outed him in public, he got banned for something else and just didn't return. Though it was talked about on the mod-only board for a long time after.
