I'm 40, I literally have friends with kids that age that call me "uncle", I can't even fathom it at this point.

I'm Uncle J to a lot of kids back home. Kids I built nurseries for. Kids who's delivery I was at the next day. Kids of many personal friends. I'm not going to fuck an old roommate's daughter. That would be weird.

But if a random, hot 95lb spinner walks up to me at the bar, hangs for a half dozen drinks and as many rails, she's gonna get it.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Clench here just from my own anecdotal experience. I have an immune system forged from playing in dirt, retail, working around contractors/tradesmen (which won't take a day off unless they're physically bedridden) and most recently working in close proximity with a person that's in and out of hospitals (where only the .01% of strongest germs survive). I still get about 3 colds/flu/random virus of the year every year normally.

With the emphasis on masks, handwashing, and general sterilization of common areas in the past year I haven't had so much as the sniffles in the past year outside of allergies.

Every native instinct in me bristles at masking on principle. The recent "double masking" thing is like, seriously?...now you're just fucking with us to see how far you can push this conformity bullshit.

But I can't actually deny that something is very different in the general spread of germs overall.

Now I don't doubt that there may be an entire generation of "bubble boys" that makes peanut allergies look like hayfever going forward.

But I haven't had a cold in a year now.

I have thoughts on the masks, but I do have to admit that I haven't caught so much as a cold in the past year since their use became nearly mandatory in my area.

That's different, I specifically said that Japanese and Korean have been evolving similarly in the past couple hundred years. So it's really weird that Koreans decided to add all these exotic colors to their language while the Japanese didn't.

Wasn't the original Korean language literally destroyed by the Japanese and only recently recreated?

I'm going to have to agree a bit with whiskey on this one. The general maturity of an 18 year old is hugely different from most people 30 and up. They might not literally be a child, but I understand what Whiskey is saying.

Edit: I'm only partly agreeing with his bit on the maturity of an 18 year old.

Don't get me wrong, I've know a number of "old souls" in young bodies. Most of them fell into one of two camps. New Age/Hippie/Witch/Manic Pixie gravitating to the arts and fun, but exhausting as an introvert myself, or Navel-gazing intellectual/STEM/Author types that were far too motivated for me to keep up with their boundless enthusiasm and optimism for the world.

Momoiro means peach color, which is different than pink, but I don't know much Japanese.

It's weird that Japan wouldn't have a word for some of these colors, since Korea does, and their languages have been evolving similarly since Japan took over Korea.

Not that weird. There are several other languages that didn't distinguish between blue and green either, or didn't until relatively recent times too. Pretty sure purple didn't exist in a lot of ancient tongues either. We can skip the more exotic colors in the Pantone catalogue and the weird shit they come up with for paints and textile dyes now, but plenty of colors we consider relatively basic and common really weren't a thing until modernish times.

Very true. I said earlier there was an unlikely chance I would bang one. But still a chance. The chance of me dating one is zero.

I'm 42. My 30 FWB right now I can still hold a conversation with. That's like a half a generation gap. What the hell am I even going to talk to an 18yo about? They're a child. A full generation removed from mine. Unless they're like Rory Gilmore and impossibly well read on the generation that came just before them, all I'm going to spend my time doing is explaining myself to the point of exhaustion.

This would be like my parents trying to explain Firesign Theater and Cheech and Chong to me while I'm trying to translate it to Doug Adams and Terry Pratchett...

Trying to have a deep conversation about cultural commonalities with someone 20+ years removed from your own experiences is like two people separated by 40 IQ points trying to co-write a novel.

Yep, done that many times.

Momoiro? The word they actually lack is green. Midori is a foreign loanword from what I remember.

all i know is every program i've ever used to try and learn basic Japanese made pink Red plus white. iirc, green and blue didn't even have a distinction.

Fun fact, in Russia those dogs wouldn't be considered blue. Their *light blue* is a distinct and different color than plain or darker hues of blue.

Japan doesn't even have its own word for PINK. it's literally Red plus White.

that would be like English calling "Green" Yellow plus Blue.

Many things have to be done for society to function including shoveling others people's shit.

100 years ago, NYC was literally lamenting that they lived in a 3' deep river of horse shit on every major road and thought they would drown in literal horseshit by now.

meanwhile i was told my entire childhood that my hometown was going to be underwater by now from Global Warming and yet, my hometown is still very much there.

I'm guessing Kamala Harris too.

and that's the tip of the iceberg.

you give Zeus shit but Helly has almost as many alts as Soma ffs and literally does nothing but talk shit behind an ablative armor of alts.

at least Mead had the testicular fortitude to admit he's weak and block me, but it doesn't stop him from passive aggressively posting after me in dozens of topics like I can't logout and see. Its just adding an unnecessary step to the catty mean girls bullshit a certain clique here thrives on.

half a dozen of one, 6 of the other in practice though. the ones that cry the loudest about other people's alts usually have way more alts than the person they're bitching about.

and yes, i already see the obvious reversal, except i just have the 2 and if you don't know them by now, stay at the kids table while the adults are talking.

TLoU, easily.

As I said in another topic, gaming can learn a lot from the Yakuza team of all teams if they want to do "woke" right.

Just follow Rina's hostess story in Yakuza Kiwami. It's optional, organic, doesn't grind the entire game to a halt for the message like the second act of every CW drama episode, and tells a very strong story without squick.

But I've yet to see a gaming journo looking for clout even mention it.
